Match play assured but a little disappointing to shoot like this in the final round just like in the regional.
Maybe the conditions are significantly worse, but looking at the high scores across the board it strikes me that 72 holes is 18 too many -- particularly with Match Play still in the offing.

Just watching the last few holes it seems like we've lost focus quite a bit. They're probably thinking about their teammate winning the individual instead of staying in the moment.

Maybe they got it all out of their system.

Could be good for us.

We have a national championship girl ( first ever).

Our team is in match play ( 3rd spot) and played horrible today. Get motivated and fight like heck in match play tomorrow.

A sip owns the Omni La Costa resort, and their men's golf coach had the idea to move the golf championships there. They probably didn't have to work the ncaa too hard...

Outstanding.

Just last week she qualified for the Women's US Open at my home course, so she's in the zone right now.

Come to think of it, I think 3 Ags placed in the top 10.

And that same sip owns Bob Chophouse. Sort of like Tilman Fertitta, there is good money in food and drinks. Especially when sold in very high volumes.

Well the sips are out. So fug 'em.

Time to re-focus after that great win by Adela and take this trophy home.

How many rounds did they play before the recent match play format? Isn't match play plus 4 rounds too much?

It was 4 rounds prior to 2015

Seems like 3 rounds of stroke would be sufficient.

Absolutely agree. I think they keep it four so they can also hold the individual comp, but that would be fine at three as well.

He made his initial money from his dad's oil company.

Bob Rowling heads the investment fund that bought Omni in 1996. He is a big Texas supporter. Thus why Texas is hosting this event at an Omni resort.

Bob Sambol founded Bob's in 1993 in Dallas. He's a big golfer and is a member of several Dallas country clubs. But I don't think he's a major booster for any school.

Sambol is lucky he isn't in prison for fraud. He now only operates the original location. The name and rights for other locations are owned by Omni (and therefore Bob Rowling)

Thankful for all the seniors and all they accomplished and helped this program accomplish. I do think the team is ready for some of our young players to take their turn + Adela and Cat next year.

Really dislike the match play format. A&M and LSU played very consistently well for 4 rounds and separated themselves along with Stanford at the top of the leaderboard. Both bounced in the match play QF and Stanford is still battling it out as well.

I love match play and I think its the perfect format for a team championship.

I would reduce the number of rounds before match play to 3.

Agreed or have the events spread apart. Playing 5 rounds consecutively is tough.

Agree. 4 rounds followed my 3 match play is a lot to ask. 3 then 3 seems like plenty, although maybe the individual championship stakes plays a role in them wanting 4

We also weren't consistent for all 4 rounds. Started hot then steadily slipped. I was worried about today after +15 in round 4

UCLA shot +9 yesterday. Tough course got very firm and fast. It'll be interesting to see how it treats the guys.

Four rounds is for the individual natty. That's the right number. This ain't no LIV ***** *****

Then three for a natty. I like it. It's golf; not marathons.

Great job Aggie Lady Golfers! An individual National Championship and "Top 8" team finish!

Haven't seen something like that since 2012 football season - when JFF won the Heisman that same year while our football team finished in the "Top 8" as well (ranked #5 after dismantling the Sooners in the 2013 Cotton Bowl). Whoop!!!

Gig'em, Ladies!!!

Agree that 3 stroke play rounds makes sense if you're going to match play with the top 8 teams. Start on Saturday morning and you still get the rounds on Golf Channel Monday through Wednesday (when pro tours are not playing.)

Watching today reminded me how much I dislike this course for the championship - it looks like a bad muni course set next to a busy highway. The noise and truck traffic really adds to the championship feel.

I'm not going to argue the current quality of the course, as it's been probably 7-8 years since I've played it. I am curious about the highway noise thing though. It is over 2 miles to a highway.

I have played that course and I don't recall any highway near any of the holes. They did a lot of renovation work and while I'm not a professional golfer, I thought the course was in really good shape when I played last year.

He bought them back in 2019.
