His putter really got hot from holes #10 to #17 in round 2. His birdies were putts from 11', 12', 23', 12', and 13'. Those are "Spieth in his putting prime" numbers.

Aren't the PGA Tour playing opportunities different as you go down the list of the 30 qualifiers?

Only the top finisher is fully exempt. The rest of the 30 are prioritized behind the PGAT 125 (and 10 more from DPWT) to start the PGAT season but reshuffles reward guys that are play well.

So no, there's not much difference if Sam finishes 10th or 30th. He will get more opportunities based off how he plays on the PGAT.

How do they prioritize numbers 2-30? Is there a better chance getting into a field if you are ranked higher bc they go top to bottom to fil a field? Or does that not really matter? I assume all the Korn ferry guys will play any pga tourney they can get into but I know noting about the prioritization.

Below are the priority rankings for regular tournaments. Conceivably there could be a cutoff somewhere in the 2-30 list if they ran out of spots while filling the field, but from a cursory look at the fields this season, it looks like that never happens. The tournaments seem to fit into the category of Major/Signature Events/Invitationals vs. the lesser tournaments (Houston Open, Texas Open, John Deere Classic, etc). The Korn Ferry guys are largely not getting into the first group, but don't seem to have any issue getting into the tournaments for the second group. I don't really understand #26 on this list.

If he popped in this thread and made a post thanking everyone for the support, I imagine he would build an even more rabid fan base rooting for his success. Would be pretty cool. Just a random thought that also puts this on my watchlist.

One high finish should lock up a spot. As long as all of the winners of the next 4 events don't come from behind him in standings, he really should have a pretty clear path to a card.

+2... Yuck. Not a good part of the season to not have your best stuff. He has missed multiple putts within 4 feet. It's a HUGE problem of his.

Last week he had some great great putts.

He got to go -5 or -6 today. That's going to be tough.

Can't get much going today either. Going to miss cut. Will probably drop a few spots but not super devastating. Can't do this again though. I'm sure he will be happy to have an off week before the next event though.

Interesting fact, but Sam seems to struggle at courses on the west half of the US. Looking at his results this year and the couple PGA events he played he has a rough time at those. Wonder if it's altitude related or what.

KFT back after the hiatus this week with 2 rounds of the finals after this one. Hopefully the break let Sam get a good reset and can hold on to a top 30 without too much sweat
