Sam is -5 through 9 today

Bad back 9. Only E par with some bad bogeys. -5 on day.

Just so inconsistent. +2 on the day....going to play himself out of the cut after a good day 1

I've noticed that Bennett's scoring on the par 5s is not very good in his tournaments. Basically giving away strokes to the field.

that's where his lack of distance kills him. He usually has 50-100 yards or so in whereas the other are usually on in two or in chip range.

Play suspended. Morning session still not even halfway done and weather looks terrible this whole weekend.

I am rooting hard for Sam and want him to succeed but unless he figures out his putter it's going to be hard for him to find success. Missed quite a few opportunities and lost some strokes due to putting. We talk about his driving distance holding him back a lot, but putting is his number one enemy.

Too bad Sam didn't get a sponsors exemption this week to play with Ryan Palmer in the Zurich Classic. Palmer and his teammate are just 1 off the lead right now.

In all likelihood going to miss the cut by a stroke. Missed a 4 and 8 footer for birdie on last few holes and then missed an 8 footer for eagle that would have got him for sure in.

Hasn't been playing the best or most consistent golf recently.

Pretty bad round today. +1. Going to need a really good round tomorrow to make the cut.

Outside of driving the ball, he is not in a good place with his game over the last few tourneys. Putting is very bad and he is not leaving himself makeable birdies.

Can't imagine the focus it takes

His approach shots are going to have to improve. From what I've watched and followed of him, he hits the green in regulation and leaves himself too many 20-30ft putts where the leaders are on in regulation with 10ft putts for birdie.

What tournament is he playing? Not the PGA

First hole emblematic of his struggles. Easily outdrove other guys on the opening par 5. First guy hits green in two, but has a long putt... 2 putts for birdie. Other guy lays up and then hits it to 4 feet.. birdie. Sam hits second shot to 90 feet away in the rough. His chip then leaves him 20 ft away for birdie. Pars the hole. He just is struggling to make birdies right now because he isn't leaving himself putts from a makeable range.

-5 on the day thru 10 now... wow! inside the projected cut. Couple more birdies he can be in striking distance of top 10.

A day after a +1 shoots a -7 and makes the cut easily!

Moving Day... starting Saturday's round at T33 (-6).

4 holes. 4 birdies. He is on fire.

Only two shots off the leader but T19…absolutely crazy

I hope he can throw up another 65-67. That would hopefully put him comfortably inside the top-20 or even better. This field has to spread itself out a bit

Struggling to get anything going... Inconsistent.

This sums up where his putting is at...

-3 on the day. Should secure him a top 20 most likely! If he didn't shoot +1 on the first day he may have won the dang thing.

Hes not going to play well every round or every week...its about the whole season.

John Rahm just missed the cut this week

The avg distance from the pin with a PW on PGA Tour is like 21 feet or something so keep that in mind when what to expect on his approach shots

Sam isn't very long off the tee (comparatively) and KFT courses really favor the bombers. He actually struggles the most on par 3s this year, scrambling, and putting.

His scoring average is strong and approach is strong.

It feels like you gotta shoot better than -15 every week on the KFT to be in contention. Those guys go low all the time.

It looks like he'll finish between 15th and 20th, which is enough to keep him treading water near the important top 30 line for the year.

this. Sam is consistently near the top. Some of these guys get hot for one tourney and then that's it. Consistency will win out in the end. It's a looooong season.

He needs to post a handful of top-10s at least, as he will miss the occasional cut. A couple of top-3 results or (fingers crossed) a win would almost certainly get him his card, given his performance to date.

follows it up with a -4. Front nine was pretty off but picked up on the back. Tied for 6th 2 strokes back of 1st.

Right in the mix. Higgs feeling it after winning last week.
