What headset and other equipment runs the game best? I know you've answered that before but technology can change rather quickly.

As of today nothing has changed - your options are either the Quest 2 or the Quest 3. There is supposed to be a "Quest 3 Lite" headset coming, but the hardware specs, pricing, and release date is still TBD.

While the Quest 3 gives the best experience, it's still significantly more expensive than the Quest 2. The Quest 2 retails for $199 right now, and it seems to go on sale quite a bit for closer to $150. I think the Q2 is an incredible value at that price, but that hardware is creeping up on 4 years old at this point.

There are a ton of club attachment manufacturers these days, but the most popular is likely between DeadeyeVR and Yezro (posted above). However I've also read good things about this one made by Virtual Printality.

This looks really cool. You're eventually going to send simulators the way of the Blockbuster.

You think? I think I'll always prefer to make actual contact with a ball.

Sure, but I'm not talking about replacing an actual driving range. If you can have the same virtual experience for thousands, if not tens of thousands, of dollars less in your home then you wouldn't like that?

It's a blast. I have a Quest 3 and the Yezro 90 degree club attachment. Even without the feel of ball contact, I get a lot of practice value out of working on swing path and face control. It works really well for that.

Re: controller club attachments, add as much weight as possible. The heavier you can make it, the less negative impact on your real swing there will be. I added a club donut weight to my Yezro. My virtual swing has been much more consistent since adding the weight.

Definitely want it. Sorry, I misunderstood the point.

Another quick update on a few new courses we've released over the past couple of weeks...

Surely some of you in here have played out at Butler Pitch & Putt in Austin. well now you can play it 24/7 in GOLF+! The team did such a great job of recreating the course in VR, if you've been to Butler IRL you'll immediately recognize everything that makes it such a fun and special spot.

Earlier today we released Spyglass Hill, which I personally didn't know too much about other than knowing it was part of the Pebble Beach collection - and wow is it an impressive course. After doing a bunch of laps in VR I can totally see why this is one of the hardest courses out there. Really fun mix of holes starting out on the ocean and then working your way back through the forest with awesome Monterey Pines lining the fairways. It's an absolute beast from the tips.

Butler is a lot of fun and great for short game practice. I've been playing a round at Butler to warm up before playing my tournament rounds.

My kid is getting Quest 3 for his birthday and he loves golf, do you think this game will improve his game?

He is pretty much a beginner but has some natural skills that have translated over from baseball.

Any consensus on the club attachments, been watching reviews on youtube and there seem to be some really good ones and many pieces of junk but you have to take a paid shill with a grain of salt.

and if there are still available codes I'd would appreciate one.

I cannot DM however, as I don't pay for TA.

my 14 ry old bought golf+ a couple weeks ago and started playing the crud out of it, but then we went to the course and he was incredibly frustrated with his swing and blames the game for "ruining his swing," saying the club feels incredibly heavy now and he won't play the game anymore. He even bought one of the amazon sticks and tried that, but said it still far too light to simulate a real golf club. Would be great if an actual club controller was made so you could swing into some turf or carpeting. For now, I guess the game will go unused by him.... I did look at it and the game it self seems great, but the lack of realistic controller and the detrimental effect on actual golf games seems like it will hold back adoption and play time significantly.

I have a NIB 128 GB Meta Quest 2 for sale if anyone needs one to play some Golf+. Located in CS and asking $275, but open to reasonable offers.

You need to add as much weight as you can to the controller attachment. The heavier you can make it, the less negative impact on your real swing there will be. I added a club donut weight to my Yezro. My virtual swing has been much more consistent since adding the weight.

@GoAgs92 - check your email, I sent you a key.

Since my last post we've added Sweetens Cove, Castle Pines, and The Hay, three really cool spots. We have some awesome courses coming between now and the end of the year, absolutely can't wait to get them into the game.

Chiming in on some of the attachment discussion... I haven't tried them myself but the longer DriVR attachments found here get a bunch of love from the community for being the closest to the weight of an actual club. Lately this version from Virtual Printality (another 3rd party) has been popular, multiple people in the office use this one and it's also the one we use for demo days. It's got some decent weight on it, but even then we try to recommend players still take some time to get some real swings in with their actual clubs (even if its with no ball) to help mitigate any new swing habits spilling over to their IRL game.

Also - Meta had their big annual conference last week where they revealed the newest headset. The Quest 3S is going to be great, has similar internals to the current-gen Quest 3 but comes in at a much lower price point ($300 vs $500). It'll be out this month on the 15th and is a really great value for getting into VR if anyone's on the fence. Should absolutely crush this holiday season, and I'm sure I'll have a bunch more keys to give out around then as well.

Got these from Amazon. I ziptied one near the controller socket, and put the other one in my golf bag for pre-round warmups. I'll add a pic later.

For some reason i started up our oculus yesterday and golf+ has an update. It wont download because it says there isn't enough space. When i look at room on the storage, there is over 200gb free in space...

Why would it say that and not download?

There's been a Meta OS system issue recently where we've seen that. Generally just doing a complete uninstall and clean install will clear that up. Give that a shot and let me know if it doesn't work for you.

To uninstall, hover over the GOLF+ tile, hit the 3 dots, then hit uninstall.

Not yet... we have an internal prototype that uses a real launch monitor but realistically the tech needs to get a bit better to really make it worthwhile. Could definitely do something with putting / short game but headsets need to get a bit beefier + slimmer before you can start taking full swings without any sort of compensation or irregular adjustment to your swing. It will 100% be a thing though at some point.

Our latest course is now live - Lofoten Links! It's incredibly cool and unlike anything else we have available in the game. The team did a great job recreating the topography and bringing to life the northern lights. Such an insane course, would absolutely love to get out there some day. Might be awhile before I can get up to Norway so just going to have to settle for VR for now.

I've had the Quest3 / Golf+ for about a month now and here is my $.02:

I'm using the weighted Yezro and have bought about a dozen courses. The game is really fun and the graphics are great. I think more than anything, this is probably worthwhile as a "game management" tool than a golf trainer.

The physics are pretty close to my real swing but the sim always assumes perfect contact - which in my case is extremely generous. For example, I can make shots out of the rough or long fairway bunker shots that I couldn't in real life.

The putting is pretty good but again, it assumes perfect contact. In other words, the ball doesn't ever hop or skip off the putter face and it always tracks where I start the putt.

The chipping and bunker play is also not realistic IMO. Again, it assumes perfect contact (no thin or chunked shots) and I find the only way to get the ball close is to flip my hands (which I would never do in real life). I've learned to game the sim in order to get the ball close.

After playing a few rounds, my real golf clubs feel like I'm holding a snake. Even though the weight is similar to my real irons, the Yezro is short** so the weight of my real irons feels very strange (further from my hands) so it takes about 10 or so swings before it starts feeling normal again. As someone mentioned before, you have to mix in dry swings with your normal clubs or else you might jack up your swing.

**The longer DriVR Elite VR Golf Club may help with this but I didn't want to run the risk of hitting something in my office with a longer club.

Bottom line: I feel this is more of an arcade game than I hoped. It is fun but I'm not sure it will be a huge benefit to my real game.
