Ideally in the Houston area. Have heard Club Champion is way pricey. Any opinions on Edwin Watts? Open to any suggestions

Is Hal Sutton's place still open? If you're referring to the Cutten Rd location, I've passed by that place a few times and it never appears active.

I'll check out Swanson's eventually. Seems like a fun place.

I was very pleased with my fitting at the PXG Houston location. Obviously they only have PXG clubs, but a ton of shaft options, etc.

Swanson's is a lot of fun. I'm taking a few lessons from them now and will get fitted for clubs later this year. There is a bar on the golf side and on the volleyball side. a little pond for kids fishing and a playground area for them as well. They only have a few slots for the driving range but use Toptracer so you can get realistic measurements of your shots and groupings.

I think they're still open. Saw someone leaving the parking lot in a golf cart yesterday.

Yes I have. They're fine but not as many shaft options as an impact precision or club champion if you're in to that. I would go there before I would a big box store for a fitting.

I bought my clubs from Edwin Watts and they did my fitting. I wouldn't say they are the most experienced doing fittings. I know my numbers and was able to help them work the computer which is similar to pga tour store. If you know you're game well they can help but mostly they can tell you which club goes farther. They are friendly and will help you but i recommend the following prior to going:
1. Narrow your clubs down to a few choices of ones to try
2. Know which shaft options come with those clubs
3. Know lofts of the irons and differences between makers
4. Look at spin and ball height to help your assessment
5. Look at groupings to help your assessment

If you are a newer player I'd go somewhere else.

I went to Golftec (City Center location) and was very happy with the fitting. My new irons have reduced my HC by 6-8 strokes already. Highly recommend them. Usually offer package deals with some lessons as well. Really helped my swing to see it on video and make adjustments in real time.

Curious about recs for DFW as well? I'm assuming most these stores exist in Houston and DFW.

If you're on the NW side in Spring, I recommend Worley's Golf on Louetta between TC Jester and Kuykendahl.

They've done a great job for me in the past.

Thanks. I know my clubs don't fit me. They are Pings I inherited from my Dad and I'm four inches taller than him. They worked fine when I was playing two rounds a year. But II have now decided to start playing regularly and try to get better. I've played for 40 years but it's been 25 since I played more than a few times a year/. Retirement is looming and I want to become a bogie golfer because I plan to play a few times a week. Plus WFH has afforded me the ability to easily play a few times a week

Got my last fitting done there. It was Sellinger's at the time.

Love that shop. Try to spend $$ there periodically. Just bought a new driver shaft there.

Darryl at Swansons. I really liked him. Very laid back in his approach which is appreciated for me. Offered a small recommendation in my swing to work on during the fitting but first asked if I even wanted any advice before offering the adjustments.

There are several club fitters in the Houston area. As others have said, Impact Precision Golf is a popular one in Spring. FittingPros lists 16 club fitters in Houston. They show which brands each club fitter carries, along with their prices.

PGASS gets a bunch of crap but one of the head fitters at the katy location (Bret) is a good friend of mine and knows his crap. He's constantly being sent to Ping/Taylormade, etc headquarters for fitting shops, clinics etc. I highly recommend him if someone wants to get fit and not have to pay huge sums of $ for it.

Bret fitted my son back in HS for iron and driver shafts. He went on to win the district championship and played golf in college. Thanks to Bret for finding a shaft that worked for his swing, it made a huge difference in consistency, dispersion, and a little added distance at the time.
Definitely increased my son's confidence in those tight fairways and tucked pin locations.
Can't go wrong with Bret!
