In July.

Playing #2 our first day there. Playing the cradle the evening of Day 2. Have one more round to play...which one(has to be one of the 9 resort courses)?

Currently scheduled for #4, but wondering if that is the right choice. Maybe #3 for the experience?

2 sons and me...Son #1 is a 2.2 index, I'm a 9 and son #2 is a 10

Also, any must do's at night?

So jealous. #4 is absolutely the correct choice. If you're bourbon drinkers, make sure you spend an evening at the North & South Bar at The Manor. Can't wait to go back.

Excellent. Thanks. #3 really intrigues me but I think will likely have to wait for next time

How long ago did you book? I just got back from a Wisconsin golf trip and I'm looking at adding a late August trip as a solo and I was thinking Pinehurst.

Booked yesterday. Not a ton of selection. We are staying in the condo's on #5. OK but not great, but we're going for the golf, not for the housing. My boys are 21 and 24, so we'll be playing most of the time.

I only had 2 choices for tee times on the 2, a few more options on the 4, few on the cradle. Didn't look past that.

It's apparently the 3rd favorite of those I have talked to. I think if we get to squeeze in another round, we'll either go over and play Pine Needles or play the #3 short course.

Pine Needles is great, but I prefer southern pines. recent total course renovation. it's incredible

also, if you can swing tobacco road, I'd put it right up there with any course I've played. I had just as much fun there as 2 or 4. it's a video game style course....incredible layout, amazing personality

We are first off the box on Tuesday morning. Should have plenty of time to make the 30 minute drive for our 2pm tee time

We are not doing a meal plan. We're eating at the North and South on the 2nd night and eating in the condo on the third night. At least that's the plan right now.

What's the meal plan?

If you book the Donald Ross package it includes breakfast and dinner each day

that's an awesome itinerary. we played 36 plus every day for 4 days straight and even rounded Cradle like 3 times 1 night after 2 full rounds. be prepared for barefoot drunken debauchery come night-time at Cradle

I was so nervous teeing off on #2 at Pinehurst on day 1 (magical place, you'll get it when you step on that first tee box) that I shanked 2 directly into the woods like 30 yards off the tee. Thankfully, the starter could tell we were all decent players and said take a 3rd -- I don't ordinarily due that as we run a tight ship, but you deserve another. Piped the 3rd one and proceeded to beat my buddies handily who are lower HC players than I am. Was a great day

Went ahead and booked a late August trip this afternoon to Pinehurst. Bold is set in stone. Must be within 7 days of arrival to book a second tee time at #2 and #4 so I'll wait and try. I'll look at Mid-Pines and Pine Needles on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon if I can't. I was told they had only three available tee times for #2 while I'm there and I booked the last spot on #4 and #8.

Monday - Tobacco Road
Tuesday - #2 (9:00) / OPEN
Wednesday - #4 (8:00) / #7 (3:39)
Thursday - #9 (8:50) / OPEN
Friday - #8 (8:00)

I confused southern pines for mid pines in my post earlier (fixed now). We played southern pines after the fresh total restoration last summer and our group put it right up there with #4 and Tobacco Road. It's also super hard. I'd vote that all day long if you can squeeze it in. We also played pine needles and mid pines and I'd vote SP well above those

Solid itinerary! I had a similar one. If I could've changed one thing, I would've played No. 3 instead of No. 7. 7 was the only course at Pinehurst that left something to be desired for me.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll shoot for Southern Pines if available.

Just got back 2 weeks ago. Our trip was as follows:

Fly in Wednesday night play Tobacco Road Thursday morning and then drive over to PHurst and played the Cradle and then hung out around the putting green for a while.
Friday played #8 and then #7 - soft rain pretty much all Friday definitely impacted my thoughts on both courses
Saturday we played #1 and then #4
Sunday morning we played #2

Ranking them would be #4, 2, Tobacco Road, #8,7 and then 1.

Absolutely don't skip #4, it may be better than #2.

Look at adding Tobacco Road.

Definitely do a night at the brewery.

If it's one of those package deals or not, have a nice steak dinner at the Carolina room.

Play Tobacco Road if you can fit it in, although I heard it's condition wasn't great in April. Probably better by now maybe? Amazing course and layout

Question for those that have been.

Do you do a package trip or Air BnB/VRBO?

We have friends that live in Southern Pines off of course #8. If we were to visit and stay with them, would I be able to walk onto to either course or book tee times without actually going through a trip package service?

Yes, you don't have to stay at pinehurst to play the courses.

You need to stay at the resort or be a member (or a guest of a member) to play any of the courses that matter. You can book 1, 3, or 5 as a non resort guest, or non member though

I lived in Pinehurst when I was stationed at Fort Bragg.

Boy did I have an amazing time living there.

Screw eating on site. Head to Elliots on Linden just down the street from the golf course.

Last time I wast there, the owner of the Carolina Hurricanes was chilling at the bar. Amazing food as well.

Pinehurst #4 was amazing by the way. Enjoy your stay. Southern Pines Brewing Company has some awesome selections. If you are short one time, Pinehurst Brewery is pretty awesome too.

The Cradle is a blast. I would always take my kids to the putting course called Thistle Dhu located on site.

Happy to answer any questions about the location.

Thanks for the local knowledge! We have to eat on site one night due to timing. 1895 or Carolina Room?
