Been watching this tournament in Australia for the past two hours and it's entertaining as hell. I've always considered myself a sort of golf purist (although I love the 16th at Waste Management in Phoenix) but I think I'm turning the corner on this thing.

"The Watering Hole" is incredible. Never in my life did I think I'd see Phil Mickelson in shorts hitting a tee shot with Eminem blaring over the speakers and the gallery yelling the entire time.

Didn't really think the golf part needed to be mentioned but since you did, yes, I am enjoying watching Phil Mickelson, Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka, and many others play golf in Australia.

And Phil does have pretty nice looking legs (no homo).

I didn't either. Just stumbled upon it on CW network randomly and have been loving it ever since. This to me is way more entertaining than a Saturday round at a non PGA major but I can understand why it's not for everyone.

Nothing new here as we have already seen that at the WMO in Phoenix. LIV golf is just copying what happens on the 16th hole at WMO.

Not really. The crowd at WMO 16th is quieted during the shot whereas here they actually ramp up the crowd noise during the shot. This entire tournament all over the course is a totally different atmosphere.

Waste Management does not have a DJ playing Dr Dre on the 16th and the White Stripes on the 8th.

I really don't understand the angle of what it means to be "more fun". Is watching pros in shorts or with music playing more fun than wearing pants or Eminem-less?

I said I can see how it's not for everyone. But there is no denying that the broadcasting coverage and entire scene is just different.

It flat out is more fun imo for the casual observer (I'm not a casual one).

And the more I've thought about it, I don't blame these guys for leaving one bit. Although I'm kind of torn because the PGA tour is the ultimate meritocracy where as LIV is not so much. But of course you have to be in the top .1% in the world to play in it. I do hope that our guys will get picked for future Ryder Cup teams and their jumps to LIV not be held against them.

This. I was actually looking for when PGA golf came on, saw something about "Adelaide" on CW, it didn't even mention golf, but I decided to click on it and much to my surprise it was LIV golf and I dug in.

You'd think with all that money they could work on their marketing campaign.

Did you even read the thread? Look above. The answer is all of them. However, I'd hardly call winning 5.9 million versus 180K making the golf "secondary". Not to mention the added bonus for team play and the fact these guys are all highly competitive.

If you need a gimmick to watch the game, fine. If you want to eschew decades of tradition for gimmickry because you are not "entertained" by the traditional game, have at it.

But some of us prefer the game in its traditional form. There is a beauty and connection to nature that doesn't exist with the LIV gimmickry. Golf is a gentleman's game. It's the last vestige we have left to acting like mature, civilized humans.

I don't need a gimmick to watch anything and if this were on head to head vs the Masters or U.S. Open or several other tournaments I'm dialed into the PGA but give me this all day over the final round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
