There's definitely grounds for having a little fun at the PGAT's expense on this. But it's really not that complicated. As a general rule, people prefer to get paid more money for less work. That's what LIV offered so the Tour had to come up with something similar to avoid losing more guys. That's why it was done, end of story. This wasn't some philosophical decision on what constitutes the purest form of golf.
