I've got it narrowed down to the Garmin R10 and the Skytrak and I just can't decide between the two.

Will mostly be using it outside and the salesman at Scheels told me that he actually prefers the R10 to the Skytrak.

The price point of the Garmin is very very attractive to me, and all online reviews seem to be pretty good, but like anything, I trust people here way more than I do some internet schlub.

I have the Garmin and I like it. Hard to beat for the cost. It provides some good metrics that my Rapsodo didn't, like ball speed, and some club face angles and whatnot that have helped me diagnose my shots. I use it primarly outside and the set up is easy. I feel like most of my irons are pretty accurate but my woods and driver not so much. I would have like to get the Skytrak but the cost, ease of setup, and I wasn't sure about setting it up outside.

I don't appreciate you calling us foks.

I have a skytrak and it doesn't do well on grass was my experience.

I got the Garmin R10 just to play with. For the price it's hard to beat. I have 7 busy kids so I don't get to play often. Simulated golf in the garage with a net is the next best thing. Sometimes it's quirky but most simulators are especially chips or weird skulled or bladed shots but that's expected. I have the e6 courses that it comes with and the driving range. That has kept me entertained so far so I haven't bought the memberships to anything.

If you're really into all the analytics maybe spend the extra money but from what I've seen and most reviews stated the R10 is pretty darn close for much less money. I do feel like it's a little short on distances but maybe that's just my pride or the fact there is never a flat windless condition to test my actual yardages at.

Rapsodo did just come out with a new unit that's $100 more than the R10 right after I bought the Garmin. I would give that a look for $700.

One problem, and it's a big one, with the rapsodo is that I can't use it on sunny days because my phone gets so hot it shuts down. Anybody else have an issue with this?

I'm a lot less into the analytics (although it is somewhat important to me), but more into the simulation part. I want to take it outside on nice days and hook it up to my outside TV's and play with my kids.

How is the simulation aspect of it? I've heard theres multiple software options for this (I literally know nothing about that part)

Only $599 on Amazon!? Wow. I might just have to break down and buy that

You can get barely used ones on 2nd swing for $450. I'm doing the same my backyard. I'm going to use the GSPro software. I just have to buy a gaming computer to run it.

What net set up are yall planning to do in the backyard? I was thinking about building a frame that can me disassembled and stored and just a loose net. Then a mat thick enough to not ruin my clubs but can be moved

I've got the Spornia one. It's pretty pricey but It assembles and disassembles in about 30 seconds and the ball returns to you when you hit it.

Well I officially don't like you. I was on my way to grab the R10 and you mentioned this and I started researching. Now I'm undecided and can't find the Rapsodo, which means I MUST HAVE IT.

Rapsodo starts at 799 I believe, not sure if it has a simulator feature and isn't released yet

I would look into integration with TGC 2019.

E6 Connect is similar, but, TGC 2019 has something like 180K courses worldwide (both real and lidar created).

IMO this is important for something other than basic driving range capabilities.

GolfSimulatorForum has a bunch of good info.

I'm considering this or creative golf 3d due to the games for the kids.

does anyone have any experience with Optishot? It wasn't even on my radar but I got on Craigslist today to see if anyone was selling a net and one popped up....

Pricing out all the stuff it seems to be a pretty good deal, but I don't know if Optishot is a good program

MLM 2 looks like it could be one of the best deals on the market!

MLM2 does look cool, but needing 14-16 feet for it to work (basically 8 ft behind ball and 8ft ball to net) can be a stretch for some setups
AgEngr16

I agree that is a minor drawback but he mentioned most of the use would be outside. I unfortunately didn't get on the preorder quick enough but want to get my hands on one when the restock after the launch

Yes, but my sim is outside too (skytrak on patio) and I don't have an 8 foot run behind my ball or to my net.

That video screams of a paid promo if I've ever heard one. Which they say it was sent to them by rapsodo

They are sponsored by them so it obviously is but doesn't take away from the numbers the monitor reads or the features and simulation capability it has. You can watch dozens of videos on it and see it is gonna be a good one

I look forward to seeing their comparison between it and the R10.

I don't doubt that it's good. But they give absolutely zero negatives. The one guy said he thought it cost $3k come on man. As far as the comparison to the big monitor it felt edited in that they chose to just use the shots it was extremely close on.

They also mention the only way it gets those accurate numbers is by using the special ball. Which who knows how it compares to your regular ball plus means you get none of that on a range

Anyone have recommendations for a matt heavy enough it doesn't move when you hit on it…but light enough to move off the grass or out of the driveway

Ordered this net and an R10 today. Need a mat and I'll be outdoor simulating in no time.

very nice.

i got my R10 yesterday and my net but need to get my mat situation shored up.

thus far i'm having trouble calibrating the R10 and getting the whole screen mirroring to work but i'm sure i'll get those kinks worked out. once i get it dialed in i'll update with pics and a full review

Weekend set up. I'm we working the ground area so it's no where near finished yet. And I didn't have the new R10 set up yet but I'll try that this week.

I have another spot I'll use for a more social event so I can display on the back porch TV. But this will be my more "permanent" daily use location. May is a Rawhide grade B used mat and the net is from Amazon, pain in the azz to set up but seems very sturdy and well made
