looks awesome man. really want to get your opinion on the mat. i was in the same Reditt group as you and read the grade B can be hell on the joints but i'm not sure i believe it.

The mat is the only thing i'm lacking and I'm on the fence because there are so many options

Hard on the joints? I've only hit off it once but I didn't mind it at all. Felt like any driving range I've been to and the golf instructors unit I've been to. My son did a few drives off of it also and the tee just jabbed right in and held like real tee box.

I would have set the R10 up but it was a family day and I didn't feel like pulling out all of the new toys in front of the wife… I explained that the mat is regularly over $500 and I bought a used one and saved like $400

I also really liked how sturdy the mat was because of its 5'x5' size but was easy to drag around. My 9yr old was almost able to drag it on the grass

I would look into integration with TGC 2019.

E6 Connect is similar, but, TGC 2019 has something like 180K courses worldwide (both real and lidar created).

IMO this is important for something other than basic driving range capabilities.

GolfSimulatorForum has a bunch of good info.

Have you tried gspro? It's awesome.

Have fsx and tgc.

I started with a skytrak, it was okay but would get frustrating. Have not used the garmin, but have heard people say decent things about it.

Have a gc2 w hmt and just upgraded to the uneekor eyexo2.

Both are awesome if you want to get fully into data along with play.

For software it's hands down gspro.

Have the same mat as well and can confirm it will start to hurt if you are prone to taking a divot.

You can also mimic the true strike mat, with thin turf, foam and this motorcycle seat gel pad. Cut a hole in the foam to fit the gel pad and glue the turf.

I'm in the process of turning our pergola area into a sim.

Got the electric run for the screens, projector, pinlight, ipad/ surface, mevo plus and some networking devices this weekend.

Bought a 14x15 roll of nice putting turf last week in austin on my way back to Lubbock from CS. $180 out the door. Can't beat that.

Ordered the sigpro softy hitting strip.

Ordered a motorized 160 inch impact screen.

Now I have to roof the pergola and build the platform for my mat with the sigpro softy insert in it.

For those of you guys on here who are running GS Pro , What kind of a PCR you run and get on. I heard to get the best results you're going to have to have some sort of gaming computer, Which may not be worth it in the end.

How much are we looking at ideally for something that would be cheap and just used for this in terms of a PC

Projector is the limiting factor. No sense in a $2k gaming computer if you have a 720 projector.

Gspro has different graphic settings when you launch so you really could get by with something that has a 1060 equivalent or higher.

If you already has something that can run tgc, e6, fsx then it has enough to run gspro on the lower settings.

I've got the Spornia one. It's pretty pricey but It assembles and disassembles in about 30 seconds and the ball returns to you when you hit it.
I'm not sure the site protection nets addition would be enough for some of my shanks!

Ok... so I'm going to buy the garmin r10. I will use it outside. I have a TV already set up where I will be hitting from. What else do I need besides the garmin r10, net and mat to get data feedback, record and watch swing video and play simulated courses? Explain it to me like I'm 5 please... it seems confusing with software choices. Etc....

Basic data and stuff can be done on the Garmin app. I've heard good reviews of awesome golf with the r10 also

If your TV allows for it you may be able to use a Garmin app and project/share screen your iphone.

I have almost this exact setup, but with Mevo+ and a ceiling projector.

TGC 2019 is bad@ss.

I'll be moving soon, so, I'll likely be selling the entire system (for way less than $8K).

Just putting it out there as a feeler.

Interested!

So the garmin r10 will pretty much do everything except givevyou the ability to play simulated courses? If I wanted that, I'd have to buy one of the software options?

Dammit!!! I pulled the trigger on all of it (minus the floor mount) yesterday. it is all supposed to arrive May 2. I'm putting it in my garage and need to move a few things around. Once I get it all set up I will be posting pics. Does anyone have suggestions on insulating garage doors? I'm also installing a mini-split.

I'm not certain but I believe garmins software offers sim course that you can buy but I don't believe their software is as good as the big guys. But serviceable.

Same with awesome golf. It has like 4 courses but the practice stuff is really good. And it has some additional games

Can the R10 be used for baseball also?

I got my 14 that wants to do golf. I have a high schooler who plays and would like to track his stuff also.

Just an update... I bought the Garmin R10 about 10 days ago. Set it up outside. Have net, tv, 5x4 mat.

The unit measures and picks up the irons decently, but it's horrendous on Hybrids, fairway woods and drivers. I'll be taking it back tomorrow. Maybe I'll try the Flightscope mevo or the Rhapsodo.

Anyone else have lots of trouble with the R10 or suggestions to make oerform correctly? It's just so badly off distance wise, it's just not worth keeping. For example, 18 degree hybrid should be going 220-230, shows it as 180-190.

I'd assume you might need to tweak the set up. What I found watching videos is when it's set up near perfect it's really good. But if it's not it can really misread.
tjones

Yea, I've watched lots of videos on it. I guess, imo. if you have to take that much time in getting it perfectly aligned, then it's not worth it. I think I'll try the rhapsodo.

The rapsodo MLM was the worst one for me. Borderline unusable. That was 2 years ago though, so may have improved software.

I've heard of lots of bugs with the new rhapsodo and especially lots of differentiation with their special ball vs a regular ball.

I don't want something that I have to buy a specific ball completely unlike my regular ball to get results

Same with the R10; everyone suggests you buy Titliests radar balls to use with it...
