I'm a member at Shady Oaks. The renovated course is remarkable. They did a tremendous job preserving its integrity and cleaning up what needed to be cleaned. Mr. Hogan would be proud. Limited memberships means no tee times.
If you enjoy golf and can afford it, or have an employer like mine who offers it as a benefit, it's the way to go. The pool is great, the tennis center has been updated and we've added a pickleball court. The membership have spent millions on facilities in the past couple of years updating the clubhouse, etc.
Ridglea is the best value. Fantastic facilities and golf for what you pay and they run membership drives regularly.
Rivercrest has a great pool scene, but the course is a glorified muni.
Mira Vista is fun to play a couple of times per year, but I wouldn't want to play it regularly.
Colonial is short and tight, and as someone else said, you have to fight the tournament issue. They've added a pool (finally) and their tennis center is exceptional.
