Thoughts on the club as a whole? We are currently building a house in the Barrington and looking at joining the club and wanted to get people's view on the club and its amenities, as well as the people that play the course.

Im a member out there, so let me know what specific questions you have. It's a hell of a deal and you have access to 4 courses there plus the rest of Clubcorp around the city/state/country. All 4 courses are good, not great, but the price can't be beat. They've done a good job upgrading the facilities (locker room, bar/restaurant, fitness center, pool are all nice).

I'm not a member, and it's been a while since I played there, but Kingwood with the Deerwood membership is a great place to join imo.

In addition to 5 golf courses you have a mini waterpark, and a fitness center. Plus it's club Corp so if you somehow get tired of those courses you can play at other ones in the city. Even without the Deerwood membership, the base 4 courses have some great holes on them. Out of those I like the Island the best (my home course had the same architect), - holes 6 & 18 are great risk/reward holes imo.

When I think about your area I can't think of a better option for membership. I'd join if I lived out there.

I'm a club Corp member in league city. There best two locations in Houston for club Corp are Woodlands and kingwood by far. Lots of variety

Thanks for all the replies!

07 - How does the fitness room look? I am planning on taking a trip there sometime this week to take a look around and since we currently have a Lifetime Fitness membership that may be a way to cut that cost out if the fitness room at KCC can do the job.

Mr. Bond - I'm from LC and my parents/mother in-law still live there and man Magnolia is a great track but i always seem to struggle on that course.

Mag is fantastic. But kingwood has a real country club feel with much better non golf facilities. Locker room etc. I think you'll love it. Let me know if you wanna play up there

Fitness room is nice (especially on summer days because it looks out over the pool). Keep in mind it's a country club fitness room so as long as you're not expecting free weights like at lifetime/golds, you'll be fine. We dropped our Lifetime membership when we joined KCC. There are plenty of cardio machines, dumbells, and weight machines to get in a good workout. I've never seen it even close to crowded.
You're welcome to play golf with me to check it out, just let me know.

Extremely active with tournaments 1-2 times a month. I quit doing it because I refuse to play 5+ hour rounds, but it's a good setup with lots of different tournaments/formats.

Thanks for the valuable info 07, my wife and I will be driving over to the club this weekend to take a look at the facilities!
