Maybe Cal is ranked #20, because of the thrashing they took from Texas Tech. Or it could be because they lost 100% of their offense in J.J. Arrington, and Aaron Rodgers.

Based on the Holiday Bowl, I'd say we're better than Cal too.....yet they're ranked ahead of us in this poll. And shouldn't you put more stock in the final poll? Tech fans aren't the only ones who knew Tech was better at the end of last season.

It's a well known fact that Tech has owned atm for the last decade, winning 7 out of the 10 games. I bet atm started with a higher ranking in all of 'em...and had a higher ranked recruiting class.

Somebody needs to dig up TBird's posts on this. I still don't think anybody came up with a worthwhile argument as to why tech had a better overall season.

But hey, tech finshed higher in the final rankings. Many believe that the final rankings are more of a 'what have you done for me lately' type thing, but whatever. I'm sure most techies don't.

PS--We already know that you beat Cal. And as stated above we also know you finished higher in the rankings. No need to re-hash that.

We played like crap against tek and still won...

These may be obscure reasons, but here goes:

-Tech finished with a better record
-final rank of 17/18, atm dropped out of polls and finished unranked
-Tech won bowl game in convincing fashion over the #4 ranked team in their home state, atm got completely outclassed and donkey stomped by a lower ranked team in what was basically a home game

So if you didn't know the two teams being compared, if I said team A finished with a better record than team B, team A was ranked in both polls while team B was not, and team A won their bowl game while team B hardly bothered to show up.........I know it's really tough, but who would you say had the better season?

Let's compare our other Big 12 South opponents:

OU - We were ahead by 2 TDs and should have won this game, we took them to the wire and lost in the closing minutes. Costly turnovers in the 2nd half led to our eventual demisse. You were never really in this one as OU was on cruise control in preparation for the RRS. Advantage - A&M

Texas - We were ahead at halftime and unfortunately for us our OC decided that he didn't want to keep their D honest with the run so they were effectively able to blitz us constantly and pull away in the 2nd half. You guys got pounded from the start and they came into your house and ran all over you from the time the game started. Advantage - A&M

OSU - We pounded them in their house and this one was over by halftime when we were up 21. One of our most dominating performances all season. You guys beat them at your house and pulled away at the end. Advantage - A&M

Shouldn't these be more of a 'highlight of tech's entire football career'?

PS--congratulations on beating a worthless Nebraska team. Nothing like hanging 60 on a middle-of-the-pack finisher in the really weak Big XII North.

PPS--Is #17 the highest you guys have ever finished a season? It's kind of sad, in a way, that finishing in the bottom half of the top 25 is one of your biggest 'highlights'. But hey, it was higher than we finished. I saw our season as kind of mediocre, you saw yours as the greatest ever. Good for you!

Its the offseason, logic is not a requirement for Aggies! They are all superhyped about the Blue Chip recruits, state of the art facilities, etc. When the season starts reality will set in.
