By the way, AgDotCom is dead on in his analysis.

AgDotCom:

My point exactly. Wives view it as their right/responsibility to hassle their husbands. Whether husbands listen to their wives or whatever is a different issue. Wives will try to seize control.

I know I have a changed a little since I have been married, but I also know my wife puts up with WAY MORE of my **** than I have to deal with from her.

Hey buck - that's because deep down, she feels a little guilty about stopping by my place all the time

On Saturday we went to Olive Garden, which was quite lovely. And the waitress across from our table was taking an order. And I began to wonder.. what is she wearing under her skirt? Chances are it's just plain old white underwear, but it could be silk. Or it could be a thong. Or it could be something really cool that I don't know about.

I'm just having a hard time dealing with the fact that I'm going to have sex with one women for the rest of my life.

Finally, there is a silly notion out there that couples should always solve their problems right then and there, get it all out and not let anything fester.

I've partially quoted you, but I agree with this theory to an extent. I think it's very important to at least let your spouse know that you are ticked off about something, and then it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to be alone and cool off, or talk it out. One of the biggest downfalls of my current situation has been one person not knowing the other is angry. Then that just makes it even worse because you were supposed to know that she was upset.

Hell, forget about control. If my wife wants control then she can by all means have it. What I want is for the most part to be left alone. Say for instance when I take my morning crap (I don't read a paper, I don't screw around, I just sit there and squeeze it off...takes about 2 minutes tops). Well, for that brief time I would appreciate it if she would not come in there to fix her make-up or jack with her hair. Hell, just let me have that one time to myself and let me do my business. Also, please don't start in on me at that vulnerable time.

Hell, I would happily relinquish control totally. Just tell me where I need to be and what time to be there and it is done. In the interim I would just like to be left alone. Take another instance for example. I bought our son a $400 present for Christmas. It was something that we both decided on and it is going to be his Christmas present. Well, I work full time and really don't have time to get it. But she wouldn't take time out of her schedule (I don't know what the hell she does with her day) to go in and buy the damn thing. So I did it one Sunday. Well, for you poor *******s out there that know what I am about to say the next drink I pour is for you. I GOT THE WRONG COLOR. It would not go with how she is going to do his room in the future. Trust me, if I had heoin in the house at that time it would have been in my vein.

Um, sorry bro, no offense, but it seems to me your wife is a spoiled *****. You should tell her that and nip this **** in the bud or just go ahead and get divorced now. NO WAY I would put up with that bull****.

Fact is that women can get away with throwing fits, society accepts that.

Generally true, but I've been able to leverage this tactic to my advantage.

One day about 5 years ago my wife threw all my clothes into the front yard. I live in Pebble Creek which is an uppity, some would say "self-important" subdivision in College Station where your neighbors frown on you if you wash your car in the driveway or don't roll your garbage can back into your garage within 30 minutes after the garbage truck comes by. I went to work and let the clothes stay on the front lawn all day.

When I got home, that evening, my clothes were still out there. I simply told my wife "You have 5 minutes to bring my clothes inside and hang them up, or I'll be throwing yours out there with them".

ce,

I just reread that and realized you said the gift was for your son, I thought the gift was for her. I guess that makes her reaction a little more tolerable, but damn bro, I think you gotta take a stand here eventually.

Too late for that, there is no "bud" anymore. A head wound is required to set things straight, which is painful but doable.

Hell, my wife puts up with crap from me as well. I have a profane mouth, take up for the dog over her most times, and like the drink a tad too much. I don't have a wondering eye so she can't nail me on that.

I made the mistake one time of telling her our dog was my best friend in the whole world. Probably should have kept that little piece of information to myself. That and lay off the drink a tad (or a ton, depending on who is keeping score). Also, scale back on the cussing and general rough housing and I just might become the model husband.

JoseyWales:

Go ahead and get married. It is the natural thing for us to do. It is what is expected of us. Most times it is manageable. Other times you want to run down the road like someone just poured napalm on you. Through good times and bad just remember one thing...YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY LIVE FOREVER.

It took me a while to learn but all one has to do (unless your wife is a psychotic control freak) is learn how to say, "Honey, you're right" whenever a disagreement is developing. Say it fast and say it like you mean it. Then go do whatever the "F" you want. It works for me. Oh, having a credit card to give her comes in handy as well.

My wife's redeeming qualities:

1) She is hotter than liquid magma
2) She is a GREAT mother
3) She is a wonderful person

She just likes busting my chops a little too much.
