First, his quote didn't even mention McCoys star rating. It was a genuine question about how 247 reconciles considering a freshman that has begun classes at one college only to be considered a non student again. A freshman is a freshman.

It will be hilarious when Texas fails to produce results that their "talent level" indicates they should. If Texas fans would actually LOOK, they'd be pretty concerned. He's getting whipped in his home state and more importantly on the LOS. That can't continue, and nobody can win big when that's happening.

DuVonta Lampkin signed an LOI for Texas in the 2015 class. He was released from that LOI in the summer of 2015 (after his coach left) and suited up for OU in the fall of 2015.

He still counted as part of the sips "Top 10" class that ironically finished one spot ahead of A&M.

both kaho and addison were never enrolled and in class at their respective universities. however, mccoy was.

lampkin was counted towards the tu class. kaho and addison were counted towards the universities they ended up at instead of the ones they originally committed to, unlike lampkin...

i do know that barton simmons did a q&a with the folks on gi-em247 and was ridiculously vague and straight up wouldn't answer questions. as a public service announcement for you folks on here, take anything simmons says with a grain of salt.

this is not the first time that this has happened to a player, where they were recruited by a position coach/coordinator only to see that coach leave. it won't be the last time.

head coaches are different. a hardship waiver could pass muster if clay helton were to have left the program. but, kingsbury was not the head coach, so that shouldn't happen.

mccoy was enrolled at the school, therefore he went from a recruit to a freshman. freshmen have to enter the transfer portal, which is what he did. now, he should have to sit out a year like all non-graduate transfers have to. he isn't special in this way.

So then how does it change with Penn State and Baylor players who were allowed to transfer without sitting out. Not even talking about the upperclassman. They allowed lowerclassman also and even incoming freshman.

I think there is about to be an exception made here. It really just depends on how far the NCAA wants to go with this free agency trend. Everything I read says the kid really feels jilted. But does this mean that every one of USC's early enrollees get the spring semester to figure out if they feel jilted as well? Slippery slope.

How so? What makes one person's hardship any more hard than another? If anything, some would argue that McCoy's "hardship" is much more directly impactful to his career path than the firing of Joe Paterno, who essentially was a symbolic figure. As opposed to Kingsbury, who was McCoy's coordinator. All I'm saying is that "hardships" can be claimed by everyone....coaches and players alike. As long as you have some change in your pocket to pay a good lawyer, you can get out of anything. If McCoy's family can pull some strings and hire a half decent lawyer, he might be able to play this year.

exactly. he opted to enroll early. decisions have consequences. if the NCAA does this, the college game will be drastically altered.
