He already explained it. SEC = big time. XII-II = small time.

From the article....
Quote:

Herman's comments will likely be welcomed by those in College Station, many of which have tried to get the rivalry to resume.
Not sure where he got this, from what I've seen, the majority of Texags folks and Ags I personally know, have no desire whatsoever to resume the game. We never were their "true rival" according to them, they can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned! Let 'em beg.

They remind me of that f'd up ex-girlfriend, they broke up and didn't want us, but they damn sure didn't want any other HOT chick to have us either. Now that we are dating the hot chick, they keep saying "you will never find another girl like me!" Why in the hell would we want "another girl like you", look who we are dating now.

When Deloser Dodds said publicly that "THEY would decide when and where we play them again", it was typical sip arrogance. Here are MY ideas....
  • Once Dodds is dead and buried for 50 years, (this starts the clock, kind of like the last JFK files being released) we will consider the game again.
  • The first 21 times we played sip, were all in Asstin or a neutral site, because they were too good to come to our place. IF AND WHEN WE DECIDE to play them again, the next 21 games will be at Kyle or a neutral site. Then we will resume the home and home. It's only fair.
  • Officiating crew (including replay officials) should always be from a neutral conference.
  • If one school has a bye week prior to the game, both schools should. Of course 80% of the B12 schedule IS A BYE WEEK, so that really doesn't help much.
This should be a good starting point, look it over and get back to us in 50+ years.......

These are some fabulous conditions...for us to play them again. In 50 years...from the point that Deloss Dodds keels over.

    Ummm:

    1. They're better teams with a lot more talent; and
    2. They're better stadiums/environments with better fans.

Everything about the Big 12 is junior high compared to the SEC. By every conceivable measure. If your tshirt team played in it, you'd understand it very quickly. That's why the SEC brings in more money and more people watch it. What other evidence do you need?

There's also the fact that you don't have to worry about the opponent/rival screwing you over on every single detail on and off the field. That's nice not to have to worry about.

It's the total package. The stadiums (I go to at least one or two road games year), the fans, the history of the teams, the culture of the south and college football, the coverage, and the atmosphere. It's just big time. I mean when the big 12 was supposedly great one of the best teams was Texas Tech. Really? Texas Tech. In the SEC it's Auburn or Bama or Florida or Tennessee or Georgia, etc. It's just another level. Like I said. The games against Texas were a blast, especially when we kicked your ass. But something was always missing. It always felt regional. Like the only people that gave a **** were in Texas. And the reality is that was true. In the SEC it's like every game is a blood war and most of the nation cares. It's quite simply the big leagues. And I am so incredibly thankful we are here and you never will be.

    Ever.

I remember in 2012 when we iced the game on the road against Bama when the refs called offsides on a 4th down when we were punting from deep in our territory. It gave us a first down and we ran the clock out.

We don't get that call in Austin.

No. Did you read anything? Regardless of how well either team performs it will always be a regional small time game. It's just not the SEC. It never will be. Everything about that game just pales in comparison to what we have now.

Poor attention starved Buscemi. Just doesn't get the fact that we play in big time, nationally televised games against big time opponents on a regular basis now.

Now that the game is no longer played, taking a step back, it has a similar feel to all of the other in state OOC games that are played - Georgia/Georgia Tech, Florida St/Florida, etc. I'll certainly watch them if they're on, but I really don't give a f about them. That is the same feeling that I have about ever playing Texas again.

The only ones still obsessed about the rivalry is t-shirt goobers like Buscemi who are still wildly obsessed with A&M. Texas made their bed and now they have to lie in it and enjoy their annual "real" rivalry with OU at 11 a.m. on FS1. The same channel that I was flipping through last night and came across some 3 on 3 league with 40-50 year old former NBA players playing street ball against each other and being announced by Gus Johnson.

Most of the nation cares when it's 2 highly ranked teams in a game with major implications (regardless of conferences). Id argue most of the nation doesn't care about a middling matchup of unranks just because they're in the sec - certainly not moreso than a Texas-Texas ATM matchup on tgiving

agent and I were DMing last night. I think the game will resume one way or another, perhaps when the seesaw straightens and neither school will view the game as doing a favor for the other.

    Here are the terms:

    1. First 20 years alternating at Kyle and neutral site. After that we can alternate home and home
    2. SEC refs for all games
    3. No games ever on LHN, FS1, or any other Mickey Mouse channel

Take it or leave it. Either way, I don't give a damn.

No, here's what is going to happen.

Since you lost the last game at Kyle, you will get to lose the renewed rivalry game at DKR.

You have 3 good teams on your schedule this year. And Texas won't stay down forever.

And it's a 100 year rivalry with a rich history and legendary moments, what's not to gain?

Calling us out? Remind me again - who left the date open, and who refused to play?

The perception of Texas is changing according to who? Longhorn fans? I haven't heard anything about that from anyone. We'll see who Tom Herman is: they coach who led Houston to a NY6 bowl, or the one who got beatdown by SMU, Navy, Memphis, and San Diego State.

The question was asked and he manned up and said let's do it.

For those who still think no one cares about the Texas Texas A&M game let that sink in. The state wants it. This will never go away.

The media will demand a response from A&M.
