Baylor trying to get Morris. Sure would hate to see him take that job.

Why would he take it? Is he a hard core Baptist or something? If he continues to improve at SMU, there will be far better jobs for more money, without all Baylor baggage.
Morris would leave BU for us if that scenario were to happen.

Only a fool would touch that job. Briles was an offensive genius, but he could not field a defense without thugs.
Baylor has 2 permanent factors working against it:
1. The academic standards make recruiting difficult (as opposed to okie lite or kstate who admit anyone)
2. The game-day atmosphere is child's play and many players are not into having to put up a baptistic front
Temporary problems:
1. Could be looking at trouble from the NCAA or Federal Govt
2. Board of Regents is in a civil war, some still want to bring back Briles
3. Do not have permanent Pesident nor AD, the eventual boss would not be the one who hired the HC
(always a bad situation)
Morris is a rising star. IF he waits a few years, he would have better options.

Not to mention the conference. When BDF dissolves, and it might be sooner than expected, Baylor is left out of Power 4

They have an AD. They hired the guy from Mizzou that was at UH when they hired Herman.
Maybe I am being nave, but I just don't see Morris leaving SMU for Baylor right now.
SMU pays him well ..... I believe ~$2.7M.
Baylor's reputation is horrendous right now & there are still years of lawsuits in front of them.
I believe Morris stays put at SMU for the 2017 season ..... after that, perhaps we offer him a chance 'to come home'.

Chad Morris is not going to Baylor.
Has his agent floated the story behind the scenes and suggested Morris would be interested in order to pump up interest in his client? Oh hell yes.
But that doesn't mean Morris is interested in coaching at Baylor - he IS interested in making more money.

Beyond it being cesspool, the next coach is set up for massive failure. Their recruiting class from last year disbanded them. They essentially have no recruits for this coming signing day. The NCAA will likely eventually let any player transfer out without any penalties. Baylor is about to field a team of walk-ons from their Baylor line.

The BOR hired Mack Rhoades. He appears to have made a jump from a bad situation at Missouri. Still, I do not see why a good AD would come to baylor, especially when things were blowing up. He also appears to have hired Pinkel's replacement who has done nothing.
