Twitter is saying Morris has informed the team that he is NOT leaving.

For clarity ...... some people on Twitter are saying that Morris told his SMU players that he is staying at SMU.

You know, Morris would be a good hire for LSU. Would suck for A&M, but if LSU wants an offensive mind, he would be a good get.

Agreed.
I could see Herman going to Oregon, then Houston making a run at Morris.
If that were to happen, I don't believe that Houston could money whip Morris away from SMU.

Really stupid if true. All Morris needs to do is win 7-8 games next year and he'll be one of the top 3-4 candidates on next year's coaching carousel. Win 9+ and he'll be next year's Herman. Throw in that's he's making more than enough money at SMU to sit tight and wait for the best offer he can get and I don't see why he'd do this.

Coaches never "sit tight" when offered a couple million more than they are currently making. Why sit tight at SMU when he can sit tight at Baylor?

Because it's Baylor.

I mean this: He's already making great money at SMU (2.5+ million). Yes he might get a decent raise by moving to Baylor, but their recruiting is in the ****ter, major sanctions are possible, and their national image is beyond repair for the next few years. It's going to be VERY difficult for the next coach to win there.

In my opinion, it's worth it to forego that extra money for a year in order to secure a job at a school that 1) offers a lot more job security (because he'll actually have a chance to win there) and 2) isn't an all-around raging dumpster fire.

Baylor was paying $6M to Briles if I recall correctly. So, a $4M pay raise is massive assuming they are paying Morris that just to get him to consider going there.
