Perfectly encapsulated the entitled, fair-weather nature of sip fans.

He explained how t.u. fans expect excellence and if they don't get it, they either leave or remain silent until excellence is displayed. He indicated that this was one of the great things about the t.u. fan-base. He ridiculed other fans who "yell themselves hoarse during a football game." Kudos to you Mr. English, not only did you explain why t.u. fans are so lame, but you fully endorsed said lamewaditude.

So, most of the fan base doesn't really give a damn about the school associated with the program. Instead, most of them are just the same front-running d'bags you see following around whichever DFW or Houston pro sports team might be having success in a given year.

I met and knew Doug during Slocum's years, which was a great time to live in Austin. Doug didn't say squat about football or fans in those days.

Not exactly unique to Texas. Look at Florida the last few years and their attendance. Two seasons ago I was in tiger stadium for the AGS game and there were a lot of empty seats. When expectations aren't being met its easy to find something else to do for entertainment

That game in BR was played on a day it was storming with lightning before and during the game

Lbk...you're right about the apathy. I just don't know how else you can get it through to the decision makers. I couldn't support what was happening with the team and wasn't going to go to the game with a bag over my head!

Yeah on wiki not only do they claim the 1970 season where they lost their bowl game and ended up ranked #3, but they include a list of "unclaimed" national championships.

2008 when Crabtree dreamed it in his head
