I do believe that aTm is leaving primarily to get away from Texas' influence. Haven't done well in football in the big 12. Going to the SEC is a huge risk, but possibly not as risky as staying and being perceived as the other Texas school. May wind up being a brilliant move. You never know. At Deloss' core, I think the reason he doesn't want to continue the rivalry is that he isn't going to let aTm pick and choose which traditions they keep and maintain. Right or wrong, that is where he is coming from. It's a power play. Could it backfire? Again, I dunno and not going to act like I have all the answers.

I stopped reading after point #3-aTm can't compete academically with Texas. He lost credibility with me there. Really? That is news to me. I hate using the gen y phrases like epic fail, you are butthurt, etc.... but this point is....I can't bring myself to say it....but here goes.....FAIL. You might be just a LITTLE too sensitive here. He basically said the same thing you did, which is that A&M wanted to get away from Texas.

That's not the only reason A&M is leaving, IMO, though.

Lost me when I saw his handle had the combination of San Antonio and texas fan. That is the epicenter of the t-shirt nation. He also needs to change dealers.

It makes zero logic to say we are moving to the SEC (a tougher conference) because we had no football success in the Big 12 (a much easier conference).

You whorns need to understand something and understand this quick (you're prominence depends on it), the world does not revolve around you. No one is leaving the Big 12 because they were "tired of living in your shadow". Our departure is for greater conference stability. The Big 12 was no longer on solid financial footing and we did what is in our best interest. As Loftin said, this was a 100 year decision. It wasn't you. You may have provided the catalyst, but you were not the underlying motivation.

Not only did we want to escape the Big 12-2 plantation of Massa Dodds, we thought that an institution from the growing state of Texas should be with institutions from other growing states such as Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina instead of institutions from the stagnant states of Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas.

This. I have never seen so many t-shirts. Even UTSA is t-sip first and UTSA second. From the TV local sports to the SA snooze. This coming from a city with a host of colleges and yet, has only a 16% population with a college degree, the lowest in the nation for a city this size.

Which lasted exactly the same amount of time as Texas' horrible run prior to having success in the Big 12. When the life of a conference is about equal to a typical cycle in college football, it's pretty misleading to act like our time there defines our program. It's lasted for 15 years, and 10 of them consisted of our second worst decade ever, including the only one since the 1910's where we haven't won at least one conference title.

I tried to read it. Opened the thread, scrolled down and saw how long it was and felt the need to see what would possess someone to put so much time and effort into a post on on a message board that he is not affiliated with. I made it half way through the second sentence and felt the urge to commit suicide so I had to stop. So, I have no idea if any of it is BS or not. Sorry.
