This is one of my favorite topics. Having just spent the better part of two days reviewing the latest Texas Football magazine, I am reminded of the hours spent traveling to games with an old friend while playing "What's the mascot of _____ High School?" If you didn't know, the guess was always "Bulldogs". If you were wrong, you were a dumbass incapable of rational thought.

Areas of discussion:

1. All time greats - Itasca Wampus Cats, Cuero Gobblers, El Campo Ricebirds, West Oso Bears, etc.

2. Pitiful failures - Ferris Yellowjackets (should be Wheels), Post whatevers (should be Holediggers), etc.

3. Overworked ones - Bulldogs, eagles, panthers, etc.

4. Not used enough - Snakes of all kinds - There's a few rattlers, but not near enough rattlesnakes, copperheads, and water moccasins. There's a conspiracy against snakes.

I'll get back to it later. It's time for lunch. My chili cheeseburger with onions is waiting on me at Chili's.

I would add pirates to the list of overused as well. I would also state that red is the most popular color. My wife and I watch highschool scoreboard every Friday at midnight, anytime the school is bulldogs or red, we have to take a drink. Sometimes we tap out by 12:30

Okay, I looked up "yoeman" and it still ain't there. Yeoman is. The high school is Cameron Yoe, so I've always assumed it come from a man's name.
