He can object to it on an architectural or design basis (as I would probably do the same), but to talk about the psychology, etc. is just him throwing a fit. Yes, that building seems extreme (and not sure how there are no windows in rooms if there are that many windows in the building, but that is no worse than the Commons rooms that I stayed in. The common areas would have been nice to have actually. It's no more prison-like than my basement dorm was. These students still have a private bedroom area, something you don't get in a lot of dorms.
Apartments were more fun, but in a world where everyone complains about the cost of higher education and the cost of living (primarily due to federally-guaranteed student loans), but this is a way to keep it down.

It is a large building so each "pod" will not be on an exterior wall. Vast majority will not have access to windows.

Reminds me of the B-huts we lived in at Bagram, basically plywood cells with a small hallway in the middle. Officers were six to a pod and enlisted 8. No common area in the middle though. Hey, if it's good enough for our young troops I'm sure the lib students in Santa Barbara will be totally ok with it too.

that furnishings of this house are sort of interesting. Looks like they hired a designer for their downstairs furniture, then the owner used their own "design" tasted for the upstairs (which is hideous) from the beds to the comforters to the shower curtains.
I message the realtor to ask why they show a non-existent pool in the listing.

This is my issue. In general, I think virtually staged photos, especially of pools, are dumb. But they do have disclaimers. Scrolling through a page of pictures and seeing this is intentionally misleading, though. Having it front and center doesn't say "look what your backyard could look like (if you spend $100k on a pool) or plenty of room for a pool". It says "this house has a pool!"MAS444 said:
