builders are also trying to be "everything to everyone". If there are three materials trending with buyers, why not just throw them all up on the same house?

And a turret for good measure.

Why? Just why? Why do you try and "enhance" this? Argh.

The thing is thats actually a nice looking template. But then they McMansionified it.

Get rid of the porte-cochere and even up the elevation and that would be a great looking home. (also get a new roof). You could even just flip the side of the house on the last two windows and so you'd have some balance between the bump out and the garage windows.

But I guarantee that the kitchen is on the back left side, and the garage had to go next to the kitchen. A hallway connection to a garage between the master suite in the back right and the office in the front right wouldn't do.

Sidenote, why was blue glass in style for like 15 years?

It'd be an awesome house if it were balanced. But it's not so it looks dumb

It was a good price for an acre on a river in this area, but the house description and indoor pool cracked me up. Hard to believe that was built in 1994.

A good catastrophic flood would create tens of thousands of dollars in improvement to that place.

This house is truly custom. I am sooo confused. It has not just one, but TWO, pools! One indoor and another outdoor.

It's been on the market for over a year. Shocking. It's in the 100-year flood plain, it's got 1980s apartment complex finishes, the schools it is zoned to are garbage (C/F/D grades). But it looks just about the right size a cult.

Anyone here know anything about it? HCAD shows interesting ownership history... since 2008 it seems to have been titled to different members of the same family with it finally reverting back to the "original" owners.

Who needs a waterside for the pool when you can just build your playset at a super odd angle to drop into the pool?

Also, at least the indoor pool is better than the last indoor pool posted.

Foosball in the 2nd kitchen? At least 2 pool tables?

Its actually four recliners. You can see the arm rest of the closest one at the bottom of the picture.

My best guess: There was a large multi-generational family living here for a long time and they dumped a bunch of money into making it an 'oasis' for A) teenage kids and B) grandparents C) and then some young kids that came later.

Wow....really odd stuff. I grew up in this neighborhood which has now gone to crap. There is some really oddball collection of homes in Ponderosa, especially near this one in the back towards spring creek. Really prone to flooding.

Hadn't perused the listings in 77379 recently. It never disappoints.

Who thinks this is the next hot market for investments? 9999 sq ft for $85/sq ft.

https://www.har.com/homedetail/17214-oak-dale-dr-spring-tx-77379/3557743

These two were just too good not to share (be sure to scroll through all the pictures on the second one).

And if you ever needed proof, just like even the ugliest people can find love, so can ugly houses.

You know that's just the angle of the ceiling wrapping around before it opens up, right?

But the angle of the photo sure makes it look weird.

Not a home but reading this article I couldn't help but think of this thread.

https://www.independent.com/2021/10/28/architect-resigns-in-protest-over-ucsb-mega-dorm/

Quote:

A consulting architect on UCSB's Design Review Committee has quit his post in protest over the university's proposed Munger Hall project, calling the massive, mostly-windowless dormitory plan "unsupportable from my perspective as an architect, a parent, and a human being."

Quote:

In his October 25 resignation letter to UCSB Campus Architect Julie Hendricks, Dennis McFadden a well-respected Southern California architect with 15 years on the committee goes scorched earth on the radical new building concept, which calls for an 11-story, 1.68-million-square-foot structure that would house up to 4,500 students, 94 percent of whom would not have windows in their small, single-occupancy bedrooms.

The idea was conceived by 97-year-old billionaire-investor turned amateur-architect Charles Munger, who donated $200 million toward the project with the condition that his blueprints be followed exactly.
