I don't know if you've interacted with the type of woman who loves animal prints that much, but you I can assure you that realtor would have lost a client by saying something so insulting.

For all the Jumanji inspired homes on this thread, this one seems to be the most tame.

I'll have to remember this thread, I've always constantly searched real estate listings - mostly for fun/dreaming - and come across oddities all the time.

But I also wanted to share my favorite listing line of all time, from when I was shopping for my first home a couple decades ago - "Floorplan is deceptively efficient!". That just cracked me up - I know it doesn't look or feel efficient, but it's deceptive. And what is floorplan efficiency anyway?

Also a long time fan of the "Close to everything!" line.

I'm constantly surprised to learn that every home in the Charlotte area is in a "sought after" area.

House must have been painted white.

Interesting new listing in Houston Heights area that I think we've seen before on this thread. Just needs a little TLC.

This is the world's most painful water slide. First you get cut by the tile, then there's the 6' drop at the end

I have never been more confused by a closet. Nobody ever thought "you know what would make this closet even better? Make the ceiling 16 feet high and add clerestory windows!"

Even if you tried to take advantage of the height of the room you'd need one of those rolling ladders like a library has to reach all your crap that's way up high.

And/or you hit that far corner/edge of that creepy grotto thing and bust your head.

That chair looks like it just got back from a Jamaica vacation.

To be fair it is on a private street if only about 6 houses.

I guess they can market it as "a close, intimate community"

At a minimum, that realtor should have said get rid of the zebra

Something about that rug and the way it's just... out there... really forces you to contemplate the death of an exotic animal.

Or that someone over the age of 15 would be crazy enough to drop $20 at Kohls for a zebra striped rug

Back in the early 80s, my parents bought 3 acres of land and proceeded to spend the next 10-ish years building a passive solar house from the ground up. My mom and dad did nearly all of the construction themselves, with some help from family/friends.

The house was one big box and a second smaller box connected by a breezeway. There were almost no windows on the north side because the south side was two walls of sliding glass doors.

The "cabinets" were louvered doors that my dad "pickled" and attached to wood bases.

There was a MIL suite with a separate entrance. The master bedroom had a half wall that looked directly into the two-story living room (so no privacy in the master bedroom).

We didn't have central heat and air until I was about 12-13. We got a swimming pool before we got central heat and air.

A friend of mine who still lives in the area snapped a picture not long ago, and I didn't even recognize it. The people who bought it from my parents lost it in foreclosure and the current owners completely remodeled the north side.

I'll come back and post a few pics from when it was foreclosed.

Absolutely, for one there's the bathroom that I un-renovated. It's a hall bath and the place was built in 1959 so it fits.

The entry and front door I made is pretty retro too, and there's also a truly massive video game collection spread out between the media closet and den.

It's hard to tell what some of the pictures are, but you can clearly see the front and back of the house.

There were actually two sets of sliding glass doors on the south-facing side with a porch/deck in between that served to insulate the rest of the house.

Prob not a bad joke...just one that went over my head!

My parents were a little odd. We lived on a houseboat until they built that house. They were wanna-be hippies.

They've conformed in their old age, though.

If you're asking about my family's house, no. Not even in TX. I grew up in Mississippi.

I'm guessing they were trying to be funny by showing "reality", but homes are aspirational, vision-based purchases and I'm not sure that "leftover corn dog stick on paper plate" is what I'd be posting.

Cabinet knobs being crooked was a nice touch to their life with kids photos.

This reminds me of listings from 2006. Who cares if there are people in the background, the place will sell for at least the asking price anyway!

That house is gorgeous. No out of place cushions are going to stop that on the market.

Bleh, really? I guess it fits that look that hit in the late 2010s...

Agreed that it'll sell. The house looks like it's in the front range of the rockies based on the view.

i couldn't tell if they were trying to be funny, lazy, or just a healthy dose of 'meh, it will sell quick clean or dirty'

It will have an impact. But yeah, in a super hot market that might mean only 7 offers instead of 10.
