Iowa is shockingly good. If they hold on, I don't see his LSU can even hang with them. Cannot believe Mulkey is in the finals. Ugh.

For the reading-comprehension challenged, the OP said hired her INSTEAD OF GARY, not Joni.

To that I say absolutely NOT. Gary Blair was everything we hoped for, and then some. I think people forget what women's BB was before he came here.

And for any wanting her now, instead of Joni, same answer. Absolutely NOT.

Proud of our team and what they are becoming under Joni.

what Blair accomplished after what Peggy Gillom left behind is one of the greatest coaching accomplishments in women's basketball history. His first real recruiting class that he built from absolutely nothing (which included Aqua and Atunrase) ended up winning the conference tournament before they were done. That success led to signing Tyra White and Sydney Colson, who were the top recruits in the state in their class if memory serves.

It's no surprise he had a good staff along the way and I've no doubt he's immensely proud of that. But to pretend that 2011 team was "lightning in a bottle" shows you don't have any idea what happened in the 10 years prior.

What Nixter said x1,000. It's aggravating when those who have no concept of our bb history fail to understand (or maybe even KNOW) what Gary Blair did for this program. And the WAY he did it FAR EXCEEDS anything Mulkey could have done as far as being the face of the program. I would be embarrassed to have her as the face of Texas A&M women's basketball.

If you think Blair is/was a better coach than Mulkey, then you're clueless
We prefer virtue signaling over winning…though Blair built the fan base retail. Because the school is terrible at marketing.

We get it - you LOVE Mulkey. She's never coming here, Who's the better coach is obviously debatable, but on the TAMU WBB board - for me Blair is better (better human, better coach)

I don't know what kind of Ag you are, though I have a clue. Yes, there are and should be limits to what we're willing to sacrifice for a national championship, or three. You have yours and a lot of us have ours.

Mulkey, no thanks. And you should really learn the difference between virtue signaling and someone speaking the truth.

it's just funny how she begs for attention. Why she dresses like this. Also always the first to pat herself on the back. She's desperate for attention.

I'll keep our coaches who don't look like street walkers.

If you attended any of Joni's talks, we were not willing and/or able to pay what LSU did for their star players.

Coaching has nothing to do with it
The clock is ticking on Mulkey going off the deep end.

You are being dishonest. The question you posed was whether we should have hired Mulkey over Blair. That's not the same at all.

She would have spurned us after just a taste of success and not getting her way. Baylor gave her everything and she still bolted.

Blair was the better hire for our program. Mulkey has the better resume and track record. It is absolutely possible for both things to be true.

Two NCs as player (one before NCAA took over from AIAW, one as assistant, four as head coach at two schools. Trying to find fault with that seems petty to me.

I would agree with this if he'd challenged himself to build more than one program. Unfortunately, I think the game has caught up to him (still a great coach), but the elite players have more options now. Let's see how he fairs with comparable talent now being spread out among more and more teams.

Listen, I'm not saying I love Mulkey. You cannot deny that she's elite and program transforming.

I'm going to edit this. Tara, Geno, Mulkey, Dawn, are all elite. Coach Blair is elite and the college basketball hall of fame agrees. I personally am sick of hearing Geno cry about things on national tv. It's almost as if he can't believe he's not the top banana anymore. I don't love hearing coaches complain at all. I think what Dawn stated recently is foolish. I'm more drawn to coaches that are professional in victory or defeat.

Why is this bucket? I'm genuinely asking. This can't be a texas thing bc our football program pays more for elite players than any other SEC team. We are well funded. Is it just bc fans aren't giving NIL opportunities like they are other programs?

Well because they acted like trash. I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible for a team from LSU to win with any level of class.

As far as Mulkey…….zero argument. Absolutely great Coach and she is stamping her name amongst the all timers. But…….look, I don't know the woman. But I know people who do. And they all agree that she's a grade-A b****.

Gimme Coach Blair and Coach Taylor any day

Trash? Maybe. Certainly looks like a washed up hooker on the sidelines.

I don't know if it's true or not, but comments on the WSJ article this morning that LSU skipped the national anthem before the game, and the handshake line afterwards.
