The key play was the jump ball call. We had to have a turnover because they didn't even put anyone on the lane when they shot free throws they were so confident. Before the jump ball call the ISU player pushed Alexis Morris away in order to get open. I wonder if the refs would have called a foul if they had not called a jump ball.

I think that "push off" was a bit of flopping by Morris and the refs didnt bite.

Hard for me to take any ISU criticism of the refs seriously... they didn't even get a foul on the elbows - a flagrant (probably warranted) could've won the game for us. Then, there was the OOB call that went their way. Tough loss to swallow for them, but it wasn't due to the stripes.

Great to hear. If you're not scoring there is plenty you can do elsewhere on the court.

I thought Cierra had her best game that I can remember. Her help D was fantastic.
She played tougher and harder than I can ever remember. Her D at the end that enabled Nixon
to get the ball and drive the court for the winning shot was huge!

I have not always been Cierra's biggest fan, but I will gladly eat crow. Her performance last night gives me hope that we can count on her for future games. Her best effort yet!

If we get past Zona, whose best two players are a 5'6 guard and a 6'2 forward, Cierra
will need to be very good to hold Cunane, the All American 6'5 center for NC State, to reasonable
numbers or we likely get out scored.

If you can survive an opponent making 16 three pointers against you at a 53% hit rate AND out-rebounding you by 12 boards, you have proven it is possible to survive just about anything another team might do to you offensively. Of course, to pull that off, you had to have one of your players named Jordan play like Michael Jordan, and that isn't the winning formula that you want to have to rely on, exciting as that was to watch.

Its pretty wild that Iowa State made 16 threes and out-rebounded us that badly, and still lost. Their coaches and players must be still shaking their heads at how they still got an L despite doing that.

Their fans are like Kansas and Kentucky fans. They know the game.

Many of the turnovers were induced by our defense which was better at the end of the first half and of course in closing the game and OT.

It was a good game and I think their team will mature very well.

Watching the replay on ESPNU right now...

With 1.0 on the clock in 4Q and ISU inbounding under our basket, the girl takes several steps before inbounding the ball. Should've been our ball with 1.0. Of course, it should've been our ball with 3.9 left when Joens touched the ball last.

Still can't figure out what ISU fans have to complain about.

ISU played great. We played well enough in the 4th qtr and OT to win.

They wanted a foul on the jump ball call at the end of regulation. Said there was too much contact. I guess they are blindly forgetting about the fact that their player swung elbows and looked like she broke Morris's jaw.

Fennelly also said the 4th quarter was too physical and they feel like we got away with a lot of no calls. From my perspective, I thought we got a lot of calls against us that we didn't deserve, but when you look at the second half when you compare it to the first, it was a lot more even. First half they only called 3 fouls on Iowa State.

Edit #3, but I wanted to add that besides the facts stated above, Fennelly was VERY respectful of our team and gave nothing but praise for the game that was played. Said they never ever felt safe because they knew it was a 40 minute game and A&M was coming. I enjoyed his interview. Good man.

So they got all the calls, and we got a no-call?

Yep, and the elbow was thrown well after the play was whistled dead. The refs chose the easy way out.

The refs let them play the last 30 seconds or so of second half and of OT.

We had 20 total fouls called on us to only 12 total for ISU.

ISU shot 15 freet hrows to the Ags 12

No way the game was given to the Ags by the refs.

Amen! We made big plays when it mattered. I would like to see 4 more games and in the next 4 games we become more and more dominant. Is that too much to ask? But tbh, I'm just glad we are still dancing!

I would also like to point out that our overall shooting percentage was higher than Iowa States. That stat shocked me at first because there was a time I just didn't think Iowa State could miss even if the lights went out and they had to shoot blindfolded.
