I don't anticipate ever doing gaming however I would like lightning speed, a 17 inch screen and any other suggestions you gurus suggest.

In terms of Microsoft office, can all you really do these days buy a one year subscription for yourself or family? There aren't any standalone permanent versions available… And I'm not talking about loading one from 1994. Ha

It's hard to get stand alone software. I've had to get Microsoft, Adobe, etc as yearly subscriptions.

I bought an Asus for work several years ago. It wasn't top of the line and I'm sure there are better laptops. But it's been reliable for me.
