Especially when there are plenty of crypto specific attack vectors to be concerned about (eg SOL-ETH wormhole).

It was a strange article to read because she consistently demonstrates that she doesn't really understand what she's writing about, she conflates topics that don't really have anything to do with eachother and literally cites "random people on Twitter" as evidence of some of her hot takes.

But in the grand scheme of things, I think she's generally right.

There's some pretty pervasive misunderstandings out there right now about "blockchain" and "tokenization" that are being pumped by VCs onto a public/retail market that doesn't fully grasp their utility. In the short/medium term, the market of uneducated public/retail will continue to grow, so the illusion of "we're all getting rich" will persist for the foreseeable future. But it won't last forever.

Agreed. Could be used to record home ownership/land, vehicle ownership, copywrited images used by the press and media could sell their rights to use their stuff with this birth records could be stored and validated this way. I'm sure there are a million other things that I'm too dumb to think of.

I can argue both sides, I do find these things intriguing but thus far no real solutions outside of bringing an inordinate amount of attention due to manipulated prices...

But price is the marketing tool to bring the attention. I love and hate it, I do think all roads lead people to fuller appreciation of all of bitcoins qualities whether initially maligned or not.

I'm excited that so much human attn and brainpower is directed here instead of dead end jobs at megacorps. I can't imagine the innovation that will come out of it. I just wish fewer were "quick fiat oriented"

True. The early internet was terrible too. Groceries and sparkly cats everywhere. Chat rooms were atrocious. Dial up was AIDS and took up your line. Ofcourse that doesn't necessarily mean NFTs become amazing but it's pretty typical for new technology to look silly at this stage.

My claim to shame: started downloading the bitcoin blockchain in 2010 to start mining but halfway through decided to nix the effort so I could get my fix on Starcraft 2.... sigh. I'll never live that moment down.

In order to relieve my suffering I've decided to continue on the education path for those less fortunate that haven't jumped into the ark yet.

Don't worry. You would have sold it all long ago. I used to watch a buddy of mine play poker online for hands of 50-100 btc. I had infinite chances to buy in, heard about it all the time l just kept stuffing my 401k. Good returns but not near as good.

Oh I've sold number of times trying to prove that it was real to the important people around me... Xmas gifts, hot tub, garden remodel, trip to Ukraine, hemp farm (worst decision)... the suffering compounds, but the only way to prove its useful is to use it.

Also I've had millions of dollars stolen from me via Cryptsy when I used them back in the day, had a few thousand eth, and a number of other coins...

Hence the emphasis on not your keys not your coins. Centralized exchanges are not your friend or trusted partner, they are a temporary resource imo.

What we do know is that the states that over legislate to squeeze the liquid like structure of bitcoin will see the water flow out of their hands into hands doing everything they can to keep the water in.

You're talking about intraday? I don't watch closely enough to follow intraday. BTC started heading back up after almost hitting 35.

I'm looking to increase my BTC holdings for both speculative and diversification purposes. I'm not going to keep adding indefinitely. I had $35,000 cash set aside to buy BTC and was looking to catch the dip which I suspected was coming but just missed my strike point.

Just curious if those of you who trade BTC see reason to think it will retrace in the near term.
