Last fiscal quarter the same thing happened. They beat their numbers, guidance wasn't great and the price went down after-hours. Next day at the open the priced spiked higher.

I do agree, quite possibly a shake out. Overall, their numbers were great and the market is not going to crash.

I love NVDA…will continue to own it.

All imo.

Listened to NVDA call. They didn't mention the over heating issue. They simply stated Blackwell demand is outpacing production, due to supply constraints. IF there is a more significant issue there, we will be the last to know.

Edit-
Sorry, I could be reading into this too much, but listen for yourself. Jensen was asked directly about the over heating issue, and instead of addressing it he mentioned the other cooling platforms Dell and others were building, and that lots of engineering goes into the chip. He was also asked about any specific components making up the supply constraints, Jensen just said it's the general volume ramp up across all chips, no specificity.

41.35 mark
https://www.youtube.com/live/u4Nt596Ozak

If you google the blackwell overheating, you will find countless articles with "experts" claiming the cooling issue was already resolved. Jensen could have said that.

I'm not short. Not trying to spook. But Blackwell was a historic product launch and such a big part of their forward guidance, and overall market. Not gonna lie, I went down this rabbit hole when Cramer downplayed the overheating issue and urged his viewers to hold, not trade, NVDA.

Big flow on the 20 Dec 24 175p for TSM today. Volume of 11,700 contracts. Not the end all be all, but thought it was worth noting.

So ZIM is about to pay a $3.65 dividend per share on a stock that is $29 per share right now. I was already thinking about adding, so that pushes me over the edge.
I got stung here in the past. Be aware that there is a huge foreign tax on ZIM dividends and you don't get it back if it's in an IRA.

Can someone explain this to me like I'm 12? If I buy into ZIM now and get the $3.65 dividend, how much am I going to lose to taxes?

Not sure about ZIM or if all companies do this, but a stock I hold paid a large dividend and it reduced the stock price by the same amount per dividend. Seems like the dividends are overrated.

Looks like 25-35% but didn't do a deep enough dive.

Stocks with significant dividends do move significantly before and after ex-div date.

ZIM had BIG payout in April '23. Taxes were ~25%. Stock price also took a dive. It was a BIG dividend (~30%) so you could see it. Stock dropped from ~$23 to ~$17 and then recovered a bit. It would be an interesting study if you wanted to look at the couple of weeks before and after 4/3/23.

Separately, that big payout was also the beginning of the end for "good" ZIM and it took until this past summer to recover back into the $20's. By issuing a big, out-of-the-ordinary dividend, a company essentially is saying that YOU (an investor) probably have better uses for the cash than the company thinks that THEY do. So...if they are saying that then...

Normally, you can get foreign taxes back in your return, but like I said, not if it's a tax protected account like an IRA or 401K (according to my tax consultant...TurboTax).

Good explanation. And it makes sense that a top of sorts might be in. It certainly has done enough for that to be the case, though I was looking for an extension into the mid $30's. I'll do a deeper dive later.

Kicking myself for not getting back into TNA at $48. But it all went to SOXL.

Still need at least another day like today to get back in the green overall, but hopefully this bounce is just starting.

This is still a hero or zero stock. Top line data for the Phase 3 (first trial) reTHINK is due in 14 to 29 days. If the data proves to be statistically significant hitting the end points of the trial, this will be the first treatment for AD that is administered by pill and is "completely safe". Company announcements this week include 2 people that are top tier hires. You don't leave Biogen after 7 years (also 14 years with Pfizer) from a cushy BP job to jump on board with a small biotech about to release data that will either boost this company or sink it. ... Somebody knows something.. This stock is maybe the most heavily manipulated stock in the market by Shorts and FUDsters....ever. Again, it's hero or zero. You can trade it, but your odds for a better return will be a "Hold", JMO. Do your DD. Don't risk more than you can lose and I mean goes to "ZERO". If the trial data is good, you will lap the moon a few times before exiting the galaxy. GLTAL's

ETA: Float 48 million, Short 18.5 million (38%). I think it's been shorted much more. If this drug works, there are many companies, charities, executives, etc. that are at risk....wonder why many don't want to see this drug succeed? Conspiracy theory me all you want, but I've witnessed some pretty nasty related stuff take place regarding what I just wrote related to this drug and company. The "Roaring Kitty" of GME fame, for this SAVA stock is a guy named Matt Nactraub and he's on X. He owns 5% of SAVA (ovr 2.6 million shares) and his position has been posted live on X and screen shots thereafter. Shorts are fighting this hard. A hedge fund or 3 will blow up at the trial data is good. Fair value theory for this company is $1,000/share when considering U.S. market only. It's $6,000/share when considering worldwide market. Again, risk only what you can lose and be honest with yourself if you choose to invest. Do your own DD. None of the preceding is investment advice.

We're at a point on this thread where a stock can rise from $220 to $547 in half a month, and then fall from $547 to $385 in the span of 7 hours and very few are talking about it

Could be anything from "everything" to "nothing". Doesn't matter to me. Just think it's crazy something this volatile isn't forcing this thread into multiple pages of insanity. In year's past, I think it would have. But this group as a collective seems more risk off lately.

I sold another tranche of CORZ shares. While I expect higher, potentially into the $20's, it's certainly done enough to warrant a significant reversal and I don't want to be caught bag holding and wondering what if. I have about half of my shares left and all of my CORZW warrants. Will not be selling the warrants. Decided that those will be my long term exposure given the many years left on them.. like holding ITM leaps.

MicroStrategy said Wednesday it upsized its offering of 0% convertible senior notes due 2029 to $2.6 billion from $1.75 billion.

Initial buyers will have a three-day option to purchase up to an additional $400 million of the notes, according to the company.

MicroStrategy expects to close the offering on Thursday, conditional on closing requirements.

The notes can be converted into cash, shares or a combination of both and will initially be convertible into 1.4872 shares of MicroStrategy's class A common stock per $1,000 principal amount, the company added.

Net proceeds from the offering will be used for acquiring additional bitcoin and for general corporate purposes.
