I once gave $200 for gas to a guy at a gas station on Harvey Rd claiming to be Devante Harris. He promised a 20% stake in his NFL earnings. I lost $200 that day.

Trouble sleeping last night. So I perused stock charts from like 2:30-4am. A couple interesting things I considered:

1. The breadth of this rally is thin. Few sectors on the rally.
2. Oil continues to struggle. We have discussed the "Saudi Put" around $60 or so. They said it was a "bad idea" to short oil about 2 weeks ago when it was closer to $80. It has declined since that time when many expected a rally with summer driving, etc. curious…hoping farmer is well. We know he's loaded up on good whiskey anyway.
3. Many tanker transports (ie ZIM, GNK, BHP, others) are hovering near 1 and 2 yr lows. Is there about to be a rotation into these sectors or are they declining in face of coming economic turndown?
4. as you are already aware I'm sure, many of the DJIA type stocks are in the crapper. LMT, DE, MMM, NKE, WBA are all hovering near 1 yr lows.

Is it time to rotate toward these beaten down stocks or is the pain trade trying to knife catch historically solid companies? I don't pretend to know but think it might make for a stimulating conversation and worth discussing.

Further, some companies are feeling it. Chick-Fil-A is private but has become a new bullseye. TGT, BUD, and now KSS are all feeling it. I read there's a new anti-woke ETF.

Now for more practical stuff: if yesterday opening hour put in a top (looking like short term high) at 422.58, and the bottom from 5/24 was 409.88, then Model T should put us at 416.23.

The opening price of SPY on 5/1 was 415.47. Would make for a spinning top doji candle of indecision if we closed on that price. Just food for thought…

Of course, we now have an overhead gap.

I can tell I have learned a lot and becoming more disciplined based on this alone. I used to be that fomo fool (still am occasionally). I even looked at TSLA this morning because I have traded it well lately. Saw the spike and considered calls but refrained.

Evening star doji (three day candlestick pattern) has formed here as long as it closes near where we are.

Suggests more downside. Failure of follow through would be bullish I imagine.

RIP Bill O'Neill. But he would caution against going long on this stock right now, methinks. It doesn't meet some of the CAN SLIM criteria.

Distribution/accumulation of shares seems imbalanced on this rise. Their revenue targets are modest given their valuation and the chart looks entirely wrong. Initial spike to 200 after IPO with subsequent plunge to single digits, etc.
