Stetson if you have a round head (however a round hat can be made into a long oval with tea kettle steam and a hat jack - I have to do this with my Stetson"s)

Black - more formalish
Mist Grey - any occassion. I prefer because it goes nice with my gray thinning hair
Buck or Doe Skin or Ranch Tan - doesnt work for me
White or Ivory - doesnt work for me
QUALITY
Felt - dont go less than 100X El Presidente, 200X La Corona, 500X El Amo or 1000X Diamante - if your sons happen to have the same head size as you, we are talking legacy hats here that you can pass down. Felts, I like Profile #77 and #74 I believe.
Straw - go Stetson 5000X El Jefe (steam kettle and hat jack are needed if you need a long oval) I just like this hat, Its Profile #28 with a 4 inch brim. (Monti Cristo Weave Rating over a 660 is a real nice straw.) I think 5000X"s are 490 to 570.
But it's the top of their line.
For all my hats i want leather sweat bands and satin lining in my crown tops. I do have a couple that are open air for extremely warm days.

This year the hat marketing guru's had you in mind. First time I've read ads discussing the crossover season and telling the reader to buy a grey, or an ivory for this part of the season. Stating something akin to, its felt because it's still cool, but light in color as to not draw heat from the sun. That's a marketing push, but I dont know why they published the article. Most everyone selling hats, felt or straw, have been sold out. They're telling customers it may take a year to get what you want. Jackson"s website is very clear about this wait time.
Now, you do what you need to do, but if you explain to the Mrs that it could take up to a year to get what you want and then show her the black bolded font statement from Jacksons website - that might just get you closer to finding out what this hat is really going to cost you.
PS - I didnt get into custom hats, but if you want we can go there. I just went with easier access and known products.

Yes, I added my second layer late today at the closing Model T. First layer is down 21%, even after such a big move. Keep hedging big gains in shares of stocks held with up to 5% of profits. The Fed injected a powder keg and in an explosion things blow up first. 4130 on SPX is my number. We want to ride the blue skies created by the Fed, but keep your head up as things start coming down.
Short term watch for an RDR, especially if we see 4120+ open and it drop back to 4108. I'd expect a quick support attempt bounce below or just shy of Friday close 4109.80. You could wait for confirmation of reversal with new low beyond this or if it has no bounce I'd action fast.
Temporarily, upside could be limited.

A close above the 418-419 SPY level invalidates this current move as corrective in a downward pattern and would have to think more of a sustained rally.
I watched a segment with El-Erian tho from yesterday morning, and he's still quite cautious and thinks there'll be more pain. Mike Wilson from MS said same.

Doesn't it feel a little strange that we've had no "limit down" event yet to kind of "end" the bear market.
We lost just under 28% on SPX from the Dec 22 highs to the October lows and VIX never got higher than 40.
I'm not trying to be perma-bear at all really. I just play my indicator flips like a robot outside of a few "feel" trades now.
And I understand limit downs are often caused by events outside the market like COVID and 9/11.
It just has never felt like a capitulation event has happened.
Or maybe market makers are able to control this stuff more with gamma and 0DTE being so prevalent.
Thinking about this is also why I'm happy to just try to trade an unemotional indicator now. Haha. Macro predictions are hard.

Best Hat in Fort Worth. Get a custom made hat for not much more than off the shelf. 50x minimum felt. Bought mine in 2006 and still looks brand new. I went Natural color. I'm getting a black felt this year as a present for 1 year in my own business. Now do boots. Anderson Bean or GTFO.

But even when one direction makes all the sense, you still have technical signs of overbought and oversold that the market will pivot off of until it finds its next reason to resume trend. If you haven't yet, draw your fib tool from the ATH to October low. Where are we? We could end up anywhere from 50% to even as high as 100% and still be in a bear market ultimately.
What's the end game? The FED drops rates back to historically low unsustainable levels that foster yet another period of massive monetary expansion via invisible free green paper? And your favorite stocks all the sudden trade at multiples that only exist because the value of the dollar is dropping at a faster rate? At a point where we've already devalued the dollar so much that it costs $100 to feed a family of 4 at Chili's? This is what your bull market looks like? And let me guess.. you're going to hope to slightly beat the S&P which is barely beating the devaluation of the dollar at best?
In 2005 a 2,000 SF house in a normal town in America cost you $200,000. That same house is minimum $400,000 now, and likely closer to $500,000 brand new. In the rate dropping FED rescue scenario above, that house gets to $800k within 5 years. If your salary isn't $200k, you've lost money. And even if it is, your hamburger meat is $8/lb and your milk is $12.50 for a gallon. You're losing, badly. Welcome to Venezuela.
The only hope is that the FED keeps raising no matter how many banks fail. Because we have to raise the value of the dollar back to a respectable level, which in turn will drop asset and goods valuations back to respectable levels and foster REAL growth, not Keynesian fake growth.
