Okay, I've been working on my tradingview indicator and I'm really not sure what I have here.

1) I've moved from MACD to a Percentage Price Oscillator for my entry. I wanted something more normalized so I could use it with different stocks.
2) I added code to check to see if the price was above the 200EMA and if the 200EMA had a positive slope. If it was, I limit my sales to cases where the price dips below the 200EMA. Works well for the daily data. For a 2H, it looks like the 50ema is better. I've made the EMA support a variable that you can change yourself.
3) Added in a trailing stop to exit to protect against the downside.

Something has to be off, right? 73% win rate with a 3,000+% profit on a 2H timeline? Having a hard time actually believing this.

I think the screenshot I'm showing is for about a year. Includes some time just before our current correction. I've done the replay from this point several times now and I get the same answer.

That said, I simply cannot imagine that all the rallies we experienced added up to that much of a winning…I must just be doing something wrong. If this was somehow right, I'll quit my job tomorrow.

I'm trying to adapt mine into a strategy and for whatever reason i can't get the exits right (so far). It is exiting on loss far too late and on profit far too early.

I loaded your strategy - it will go back to 2003 and in some cases you're in the trade for 5 years.

That would explain it. Is there any way to limit the strategy backtest to something more reasonable?

I know for me, one thing that has been eye opening is the need to give stop losses large enough to breathe for a better overall win rate.

Try running your strategy on AAPL if you want to be impressed.

There is a way in Pine editor to tell it when to start and/or stop the backtest in your script. Another thing you can do is take what you have and export to excel. Then manipulate the data as much as you like with more control than the TV outputs.

I did a bunch of these awhile back. You can dig into the data as much as you like to see why/where they are working (or not).

I'm trying to come up with parameters for my personal policies:

Don't let green go red
Don't enter during low vol periods
Exit on impulse moves

What I can't code is "feel" for price action.

I was playing around with including candlestick pattern analysis. Didn't get very far.
