I liked this quote from article:
one of the group even dropped off a "Friend of Coal" license plate before he headed back home.

That was very nice of them.

Market has been **** since that fed guy said he wouldn't just keep printing money left and right. Is there any real catalyst to turn it around? Even the jobs reports number which are pretty manipulated aren't good anymore.

No, I don't think the decline has really started yet. What exactly could turn it around? We don't have labor participation. We don't have capital investments into hydrocarbons. We have runaway inflation. Healthcare costs are ridiculous. Tremendous internal political strife impacting people's employment and emotions. Combine that with state to state political fights resulting in energy shortages and/or price increases and I'm kind of amazed the markets have held up as well as they have. Maybe due to inflation itself? I have no idea, but it sure doesn't seem like there are many positive catalysts that are just going to swing this thing up.

I guess the only thing that could temporarily turn it would be for those same guys to turn around and print money. But that's not really an out, obviously. Seems like we're destined to go through some **** before it all shakes out.

Good to see you on because I've wanted to ask you, and our other lurking vets and ranchers a question.

Have y'all heard of a company called Zoetis (ZTS)? A friend of mine brought it to my attention several months ago and I've been watching it. I like how the chart is setting up but I value the opinions of people that might use it daily in their profession. It's doesn't swing violently but the opportunity for impressive returns is there. In your opinions, is this a good idea? Do you use/prescribe their products or are they an afterthought? TIA
Related, I've been watching ELAT lately. They're near their 52wl and pay a $2.50 dividend. Big on the pet meds but down 54% on the year.

Ha, not yet. It's actually had a bit of a renaissance to be honest. A lot nicer than it used to be.

I did see a trash rummager this morning when I was walking up to the office.

That sounds like enough. Let's see...800k starter homes, $200k starting salaries for smart college grads (masters?), what multiple of a starting salary in an org would your role make?

I have personally known well two billionaires and I have met more. One of those two is dead now and I can get a meeting with the other when I need it, but it is reserved very sparingly. I only got star struck by Bill Gates. I got to talk to him 1:1 for a bit. Life changing. Let me just say that I am not like them and probably never will be. It is honestly not worth knowing these people. You are mere tools and pawns to them and they are far smarter and far more manipulative than any of us can dream of being.

I've only met three ever, only spent more than a few minutes around one, but the manipulative part is just right on the nail.

One guy was an oil heir and was maybe the nicest dude I've ever met. Genuinely humble (partly because he probably knows he hit the genetic lotto). Other two were a tech founder and a real estate guy, both gave me the creeps and were very cold and calculating. Like when you meet a random person that just isn't quite right and you think might secretly be a murderer.

Ok, so here's how this works in general terms, Ok?

Public company:
High level Ic: 200K base, 100K bonus, 250K RSUs

C level - you can look it up.

Private equity (not founder):
High level IC: mid 100s base, 30k bonus, equity for a 1-2M payout on control change
Director: 200K, 50-100K, 2-3M
VP: 250K, 100-150K, 3-4M
C level: 300K - 500K, 200-400K, 5-10M

I'm guessing those numbers are tech and CA based... but not sure. Either way, are you also willing to sell your soul for some more money? Compromise your personal beliefs & opinions and fall in line and spread the message that the company tells you to with a giant smile on your face? Manipulate & use people for your personal benefit? Stab people in the back every now and then? Willing to be on call 24/7/365 and cancel family vacations on short notice?

Maybe I'm just getting old & cynical!

Other industries in other 'average' parts of the country would probably be a lot lower along the lines of:

Public company:
High level IC: 150k base, 20-30k bonus, little to no RSUs
Director: 175-200k base, 50k bonus, 50k RSUs

etc....

I could be wrong or just in a ****e industry with no growth projections...
