take it however you like, but guidelines suggesting stations every 50 miles doesn't imply that this is the maximum distance EV's can travel.
Of course it doesn't.

Here's what it implies and you'll need to read between the lines.

There's a reason why propane fueled tractors never over took gas and diesel fueled tractors. I know it's a simple comparison and it's a tractors fuel system versus an EV's fuel system, yet it's the same principle. What this comparison implies is what happens in real life. To expand and drive the point home so to speak, let my wife run out of gas, or diesel, on the highway in her vehicle and your wife run out of electricity on the highway in her vehicle. Then let's see whose wife gets home first in their own vehicle. You won't have to figure out this concept, your wife will explain it to you in less words than I can type in this post. Buy XOM, you'll like it.

Many forklifts are propane fueled. At least at lowes they were when I worked there in college.

Before propane forklifts, gasoline powered forklifts ruled the day.

To maintain a gasoline forklift, most companies needed a fuel tank. Usually a 250 to 500 gallon overhead tank on stilts and used gravity to discharge the fuel. Companies, found (more so in the 1970's) that refilling the forklift gasoline fuel tank coincided with the price of fuel. Bottom line, employees found they could pilfer gas from the company and put it in their car. There were no CC-tv's, security camera's, etc. to catch the thieves and it was hard to point a finger without proof. Never the less, the gasoline shrink cost was noticeable. Later, the move to another forklift fuel got industries attention and spread quickly. Of course, the "safety card" was used to announce why the gasoline forklifts were being replaced with propane powered ones and now they were being "leased". No longer was it needed to store that liquid explosive hazard "gasoline" and industry just migrated to propane because that's what the manufacturer offered as the best deal in the lease program. In the end, no employee got fired and it was a nice way to make employees tow the line without inferring anything. Propane powered forklifts are most prevalent for light and medium commercial duty today. There aren't not a lot of propane powered cars anymore, but there are cases of duel-fuel ones today - propane theft is not a huge problem in industry as gasoline or diesel. And, it's pretty rare occurrence to "shrink" forklift propane bottles from inventory today. The rest is history.

IIRC, all of Schwan's delivery trucks are propane, or at least they used to be.

XOM Pre-Guidance was released late today. If you own XOM, ditch the baloney sandwich tonight and go get a filet.

https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/exxon-signals-big-profits-second-quarter-oil-gas-output-2022-07-01/

Boom!

In other news....It was reported that the ESG movement went up in smoke in a clean energy fire after the XOM Pre-Guidance release.

Have now been to Six Flags three times in the past 4 weeks and the place remains a ghost town. Concessions largely empty, no one playing silly games, rides without any lines, 90% empty parking lot. Been coming here for > 30 yrs and never seen this before.

They have unfinished rides they aren't even working on that were supposed to open months ago! I don't think this economy has found the bottom. I suppose it's possible the market has but I doubt it.

Went not long ago and I was surprised and how dumpy it is. They don't seem to do any upkeep. Paint peeling everywhere, grass and bushes not maintained, etc. killer roller coasters though.

Yes agree. Some of the rides are definitely up in age but I took my daughter this evening and we went for like 1.5 hrs. Hit like 8 rides and left. Had a blast. Third time I've done that in a month with her. Wouldn't trade that.

That's awesome. Love it when it's not to crowded and you can ride quickly and with ease.

I've been a lot too recently. It's perfect for season pass + season-refill cup when going with kids. I took my oldest this past week. It's a beating because he wants to do all of the big rides one after another. I can do about 2 or 3 big coasters these days and then a need a break or my head starts hurting. It's no fun getting older.

Been there. My 6 yr old is about 1.5 inches tok short to hit most of the big rides, but she loves ShockWave, so there's at least that.

And we are a six flags in Arlington.

To that I'll add that we ride the Shockwave 3 times in a row this week without getting out of the car. If you see a tall bald guy with an Aggie shirt on and a small hiking pack, that's most likely me.

I rode the Shockwave 10 times straight the summer it opened. Got off, got a burger and got back on. I almost hit a worker near the end of the ride with the burger when it came back up. I haven't ridden it since.

Shockwave is an oldie but goodie. Believe it or not those loops pull some of the strongest g forces of any coaster in the world. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think financial. I haven't seen one mask period. The stock was also $50 just 4-6 months ago. This is about $$.

No discretionary money is my guess. There are unfinished rides that aren't being worked on. That's a bad sign IMO. And the big one is a water ride which is usually all the rage when temps soar above 100.

While some of it could be COVID related, either still out of concern or new habits developed, I think the consensus is this is reduction in spending related to inflation and recession.
BaylorSpineGuy

Here's what I'm trying to figure out how to play next:

Commodities prices are clearly falling. O&G is falling despite what Farmer says (the chart/volume IMO is not as bullish as he is he was wise to sell those LEAPS calls when he did!). WEAT prices falling now.

Bonds have rallied this week. My friend bought $1.5M in bonds about 2 weeks ago. He was about 1 week too early.

The question is this: these drops in prices -looks like we may be shifting the narrative from inflation to……deflation? Stagflation? Look for the WhiteHouse to shift the narrative when the next CPI number comes out.

But if inflation is coming to an end and QT is still coming and likely not many more rate hikes (depending on how fast CPI drops), what's the next move? My sense is that the market will not have a face ripping rally back to re-test ATH's though that is one prevailing theory. Some big traders think that we rally from here and make new highs with a magnificent crash in '23 or '24.

I tend to think of COVID helicopter money like a blow off top. Don't think we see another high for quite some time. And I personally don't think we are close to the bottom.

Contrarian view: CNBC was talking last night about how they think the new bottom could be closer to 2800 or so (CNBC typically very bullish!), so are they frontrunning or being sincere for a change of pace?

Either way….most of my money right now is earmarked for savings for a home down payment. Boring ol' me.

Have a great weekend, gents!

I guess gas prices aren't high enough yet.

Oh hell yes! Keep given me that Lib policy because you're making my day and my account freakin' green! Bought more XOM today.

Pre-Guidance from XOM likely today or Tuesday the 5th. XOM's CFO,...she's crafty and could hide Q2 results (that should be monster $) in the mystery of accounting entry's, but I'm not sure they will. All I know is my XOM bull horns are on and I'm feeling great. The OPEC+ verified they can't help boost crude production - they didn't meet May quota goal and will not meet June quota goal, XOM refinery in France went on strike today, Norwegian oil company went on strike today, Libya halting exports, Nigeria not contributing...and the beat goes on. Go ahead and whip TX oil to the floor mat using some Fed Agency strong-arm tactic and presto....$10 gallon gas. Keep it coming. In my opinion, XOM is a bargain today.

Last note, check out the YouTube video by The Fast Lane Truck titled "How Far Can A Gas Truck & an Electric Ford Lightning Go Towing the Same Camper on ONE Fill-up?" You can find it in a thread on the TexAgs Politics Board too. Great video with real life test by my standards. EV pickup is not for me, maybe when the battery technology gets better. But wow! What an eye-opener. I think I posted on this thread about the 51 page TXDOT document I read regarding the EV Charging Station Plan for TX....there's a reason you need a charging station every 50 miles....the TXDOT document states it and....the YouTube video verifies it. This makes me wonder about EV stocks and Chip stocks. All I know is, it's a helluva tug-of-war going on between Fossil Fuel and Greenies. Money talks, so I'm friendly to the Fossilites. Folks complain about having to fill up more often with multiple stops when using e85 (LOL!) can't wait to read the comments about constant stops and time spent at recharging stations (superchargers or not).

Have a great Independence Day!

July 5th will be green.

UPDATE - 7/2/22 - See bolded above
Quote:

LONDON, July 1 (Reuters) - OPEC in June did not deliver on an oil output increase pledged under a deal with allies, a Reuters survey on Friday showed, as involuntary declines in Libya and Nigeria offset supply increases by Saudi Arabia and other large producers.
<laugh/cry emoticon>

Fossil fuel demand destruction is not materializing faster than supply reductions. $10 per gallon gasoline on the horizon. Heck, JP Morgan stating on 7/1 that $380 crude (their outside range number - worst case) is possible.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-07-01/jpmorgan-sees-stratospheric-380-oil-on-worst-case-russian-cut

$200 crude, should be bullish bicycles.

Ay, caramba!
