Thanks. February is a little rich for me, especially for a lotto type play. I went ahead and grabbed the 1/28 30/70 strangle for $1.68. If nothing is announced before then, I'll look into the Feb ones at that point. Just too juiced right now for me. Would like to have something whenever it's announced though as I'd anticipate a huge swing either way. The gap fill down to $23.53 is easily in play if it tanks and could also see $100 in play again similar to the action in Nov. Only bought two so hopefully a quick spike lets me just go net free and see what happens.

My plan for SPY remainder of day and tomorrow is as follows:
I have a support level from a little bit ago at 467.84. It's been hitting all around that level after the big drop this morning. It also is the last support level I have before it would break the trend line I have charted. As long as it is looking like a close around that level, I'm buying 1/14 $470C on the cheap and hold overnight. If bulls decide to take over and run it back to $470 before close, I'm buying 1/14 $469P and will dump in the morning on the hopes of a scalp play.
If bears take over and dump it below the trendline (which is $466ish today), I'm buying lower calls around $468 but next week expiry.
Just giving everyone lots of ideas not to do. Follow me for more bad takes.

Which you can at all times. Think of a bank account that's tied to crypto that accrues value over time at a 7% clip at a minimum vs. a dollar that through government action loses its value by 50%. Tough choice.

So many tools out there that none of us have. There is a thought process that exists that says large resting orders are liquidity magnets for the bots to try to consume.

That makes more sense than any of the gap fill explanations I've ever heard. Hft doesn't care about direction but they do care about velocity, if there's a lot of money that can be brought into play by coming down and filling those orders the hft make money by getting there
