Dumb question: if I own 250 shares of a stock and I own 3 ITM puts on it… what happens if I don't close the puts before expiration on Friday? This is the first time I've ever bought protective puts (I picked a great week for it) so it's the first time I don't necessarily want to close them early like I do with speculative puts.

You could buy 50 shares here that are ITM so you have 300 shares to offload

Could also roll them to a lower strike price, further out, and bank some profit.

I'm cheap.

They momentarily seem to be defending $461. I think $460 goes down hard later today if this keeps up.

I started a new job with a large Financial Institution on Monday and today they told me I can't take bearish positions. What great timing.....

I'm only allowed to take short positions on ETFs. This might be a deal breaker.

No, it's a long standing policy. I've been a contractor with them for 10 years and the rule doesn't apply to contractors. Seems weird since I'm working in the same role I've been in.

Probably for the best because I've been a bear since August and taking it on the chin.

Today I just wanted to roll my 12/17 SAVA put hedges out to 1/21, but couldn't because I sold calls against half my shares. They consider covered calls bearish, so I can't buy puts on shares I sold CCs against.

I can never take bearish positions on individual stocks, only ETFs
