That's how trading works.

I have also found that if you want a call to stop going down, you can buy puts to lessen the loss.

The stock will turn around and then you lose money on the way back up as well. And it never gets back to the original call price.

I proved this yesterday with SPY.

It was only a matter of time. I had Oct $2.5 calls expecting this type of move. I was a couple weeks too early on my estimation. This thing bottomed (I'm 99% confident in that) back on April 24th. It's been in a very long sideways consolidation since then. But since that time, it's high has been $3.7. It's already a full retracement of that high and has just been sitting here at the bottom since then.

I still think its a POS company. But there's a gap on the 1 day chart back at $5.41. It WILL get that gap and then likely go for the cup fill up to $8.00. What I have no idea about is if that happens within 3 months, 6 months, or 2 years.

Was anyone else in TRCH - torchlight? Now they've spun off into MMTLP and I'm reading that at some point they may be worthless?? There was supposed to be a dividend payout but apparently they just converted it to this new share?

I remember something about the dividend based on the divestment of their O&G properties in Culberson county but that was a farce to begin with because it had almost zero(if not zero) PDP and no one was going to pay jack squat for upside on that goat pasture

I hopped out once I saw it was up 50% for the day. OA1 said he was looking for $15 before selling. I'm sure he is feathering out calls as this may be a multi day move.

Sold 70% at 15.15 from entry of $11.73. The other 30% holding for now but sold $20 calls for $1.40 against them.

do you gentlemen also discuss long term buy and hold strategies or just day trading?

more interested in discussing setting up retirement portfolios for long term accumulation of wealth.

every study that I have read about and seen proves that buying sector/total market ETFs is a more successful strategy

than trying to time the market with puts and options- meaning that even the Wall Street firms with super computers and terabytes of computing power can't beat the overall market on a decade timeline..

I correctly predicted the SPY would retreat today based on last several days candles.

I suspect we will begin to retreat today. Looking like we had a "hanging man"-type candle today. Usually a sign more pullback to come.
