Somehow my portfolio is flat today even with IWM up

NIO looks like a good add spot. not looking at a chart, but appears to be backtesting trend line (trend is up). I'm going with verticals.

I finally got tired of watching my spy put that was insurance just disintegrate so I closed it out this morning to cut my loss. I then went ahead and jumped into the NIO play at 1.14... and it promply drops!

Something I've been working on that hopefully helps some of you guys especially those of you who are really busy with other stuff in life and use trading as a hobby and side hustle...

Trading less and not trading at all when I'm really busy or my mind isn't right with distractions... or if I don't have a good feel for how the markets are moving. But when I do see a great setup AND it is a good company fundamentally AND the options premiums values seem off in a good way, I'm taking that trade with SIZE and discipline. They're not gonna all work out, but the winners will probably out win the losers.

Some other things I've drifted towards... expiration dates further out and ATM or not too much OTM... Carter style... he's got some great thoughts on this in his book.

So yesterday I went into AMD 9/17 with size, 50/50 on number of contracts at 100 (@ $3.50) & 105 (@ $2.15). Those premiums being that low just seemed out of whack given how it can move. See last July/August for example. Setup look familiar? Needs a close 100+ ideally tomorrow on the weekly & monthly chart. It is my one and only open trade, and I have 7+ weeks to let it work out so I won't be quick to sell out and move on.

Holy **** congrats on the move this morning. I was trying to get into the weeklies and missed my limit buy by a few cents. It then ran 300% from where I was trying to buy.

Another example of how I don't understand earnings.

I'm in a dividend play (NRZ), and they released earnings yesterday. Here are the highlights.

• EPS is down $0.03 from a year ago, and only beat Q2 estimates by $0.01
• Revenue was less than 1% higher than it was a year ago, but missed Q2 estimates by a large margin.
• Stock is up 4.5% currently

I'm guessing that fear of worse earnings drove the price down ahead of time, and then there was relief that things weren't as bad as feared? We've seen companies blow earnings out of the water and then tank afterwards.

Moral of the story, I don't play earnings!

But the market is made up of individuals and groups who each hold a certain sentiment, macro and micro, long term and short term, index and individual stocks. The overall sentiment seems to always know where it wants to go and will use news and current events as an excuse to go there. Why do you think Sava is down today? The market believed it was overbought, and despite hugely successful news, it sold off a little bit. There's a chance it might even have another low before skyrocketing.

Look at FED days. It's been the EXACT same message every single time Powell speaks since Biden was elected. Why then has the market reaction not been the EXACT same?

Took SAVA down to 98 this morning, savage.

If I'm looking at this chart correctly, NIO needs to break 42.92 for room to run correct?

I appreciate both of your insights on this. Focusing on the big picture and the current landscape of the market in general can be a bigger influence than the earnings themselves.

$CWH on a nice run today. Churned some covered calls several times and just sold some again. Wouldn't mind getting called out at $45 per leaving me some net free shares to hold.

What price did you buy in at? I didn't get in until it start trading down here in the 60 cent range.. It's trading like it has found a bottom down here.. I'm not heavy in it, I'm just buying the dips and then peeling portions off every time it rips up a tad. Accumulation play for me.

Wondering if this infrastructure bill is about to boost TF out of it.

$0.89 is where I bought in at. It was one of the stocks I jumped feet first in during February run-up and didn't do enough DD prior to that.

i was late to the AMD calls, got in this morning, but wow what a great trade already!

I'm at 4x on a 8/13 $115C. I thought it might double because of the time away but here we are. Trying to figure out when to cut and run though. What a ride. This board is outstanding.

Any of you SPY scalpers brave enough to label this a double top? I may be tempted to pick up a few Puts if we don't break through 441.70 in the next few candles (which, as we all know, is a MASSIVE "if" in this market).

I already grabbed a lotto for tomorrow. MU $79C was .07.

I know, I know, not a huge risk just trying something out for fun.

Well that didn't take long. "To the moon" it is!
