super frustrated on TTD this morning....bought Aug 85C yesterday, put a sell order in at 6 and it never filled....ended up stopping here at breakeven.

Can do almost everything right and still come away with nothing sometimes

Anatomy of (too many) a trade: $TTD
(blue circles denote action, blue x's closures)

1) at 833A noticed a ping of R2 and then a pullback, decided to enter the 84C at price of 83.15 using R1 as my protection line (kill the trade, or keep the trade). Sold at 8:39, and closed at 8:41a with the pullback to R1 again.
2) VERY shortly there after, noticed the bounce off R1 and entered 85c's and doubled down a few min later, exited all those from 8:53-8:57.
3) Noticed we were approaching the daily pivot, had prepared myself for a touch of the pivot, but wanted to start scaling in at the lower bollinger band on the 2 min. Entered the trade which IMMEDIATELY turned, and I just popped out for a very quick scalp.

Here is one that I failed (kind of, i'll explain in a minute) to show I lose a lot too!

Anatomy of a Trade: $TSLA

1) was watching TSLA due to earnings release power. Was going to be bullish if it opened OVER the daily pivot (purple line), which it did. Barely. It dipped below and came back up, this was enough to make me think the bulls were gonna run it......I entered the ATM call......I was right for just a second as the trade went in my favor for about 45 seconds.
2) The 2nd 2 min candle shows the story. It was say goodnight. I was using the pivot as my kill trade / keep trade line. We got below, and continued to build below. I hit the eject button for a loss.

I said this is a failed (kind of) trade. Yes, it went against me. Yes I lost a little on the trade. Had I held with blind hope, I'd have gotten murdered. I protected myself by hitting eject with a defined price action point. This is why it was a failure, but it was a good loss (if there is a thing).

Story of my trading career. But in all seriousness, thanks for sharing. Love seeing stuff like this as it helps understand your thought process and accelerate our learning curve.

And way to go on being disciplined enough to exit quickly. No shame in taking a calculated risk, and since you didn't stubbornly stay in the trade, you can try again on something else with that capital tomorrow. Wish I could say I treat all of my wrong trades that way.

I learned the hard way.
