It's been one of my favorite days of the week.

Plan to use tomorrow to review hundreds of charts. Kind of like sitting in the deer blind preseason I guess.

So there is a particular book linked in the first post on this thread that for all intents and purposes looks to be out of print. Are there any copyright lawyers on this thread that can give insight into the laws around what can and cannot be done regarding books that are out of print?

Specifically, would it be okay to copy said book and make a digital version available to others?
No. This article sums it up well:

Quote:

Out of print simply means a book is not currently being published. It may or may not be published again in the future. Out-of-print does not equal out of copyright. The copyright holder still retains all rights whether a book it is in print or not.

Copying an out-of-print book without permission of the copyright holder is illegal under US law. It doesn't matter if it is only for private or educational use. It also doesn't matter if the book will not be for sale.

Mornun...

Hope everyone had a very Blessed and safe July 4th Holiday weekend.

Your morning snapshot although markets are closed today. Well except for you futures traders.......

Futures a bit red, around the world mostly red with a little mixed in green.

Today for me is hunting for setups in both directions. Hope to post some charts today as the day goes on.

Great day for seat time learning new things, studying charts, resetting and game planning the week ahead.

Prepare wisely!

Morning....

So couple things on this one.....

  • I think this was a short squeeze play as 10X the total shares was traded on one day. Could be a lot of stranded astronauts on this one.
  • Could still be a short squeeze vent with almost 30% short of float.
  • Has some sort of investigation/lawsuit of a reverse merger with Greenridge Generation Holdings
  • Will Meade was tweeting about it in early June as a Bitcoin crypto miner.

It could be consolidating here again after the previous period and move. I suspect $5 is decent resistance and $5.89 (MT).

I wouldn't personally enter it since a crypto miner, appears to have been pumped/dumped and no telling with reverse merger shenanigans. Maybe long dated calls or spread possibly. Buy/write doesn't look attractive to me as if retraces back to $2.66ish areas your net cost is well above even on long dated covered calls.

Rinse and repeat.

CIDM

This has been one of the easier ones to buy at lower support, sell whatever % you need to in the high 1.30s to mid 1.50s for more net free shares.

No options chain so its at least how I play this one.

Lost 200 EMA Friday so coming back into buy range for me. I will usually have first buys at 1.19, then 1.15 & 1.12.

OSTK both ways....

This could be a potential put play Tuesday then long call or shares play.

  • Uptrend since March with higher lows and highs.
  • Lost the 8&21 EMAs last week and closed below the 21.
  • Has history of a 50EMA touch which is also -1ATR.

Possibly 7/9 85 or 86 Puts then switch to 7/16 or later 90c on a bounce.....should all that happen anyway.

Might be getting ripe for a vertical call spread. I would probably go out to August.

Question for IBKR users. I set up an account with IBKR and in the process of transferring assets, I noticed the following about Microcap transfers:

  • Note that we do not accept certain transfers of shares of U.S. Micro-Cap Stocks. Shares of U.S. Micro-Cap Stocks may be temporarily restricted from being sold so that we may conduct due diligence to confirm if the shares may be sold through us. During this process, you remain free to transfer the shares out. For more information on this, click here.

When you click the link, it gives the restrictions... the first being an eligible client is one that maintains at least $5M in equity with IBKR.

Ummmm, I'm not quite there.

Some of the securities that many on this board hold including WWR, DNN, DPW, etc are listed as microcaps on their spreadsheet.

1. Have any of you with less than $5M in assets experienced problems in transferring these assets to IBKR?
2. Can you purchase these securities directly on IBKR even though they are microcaps?

Just curious to gage my level of trading. I typically keep these kinds of trades to about $500. Can I ask how many shares you buy for this rinse repeat effort?

This is in my MA account so for this one in particular I will set buys of 2,500 at $1.19, 2,500 at $1.15 and 5,000 at $1.12 or 10,000 total shares.

My trade plan is to exit all shares at beginning at $1.37+ or keep 20% minimum as net free shares. Target is 30% net free each round. I have traded this between $1.20-1.32 multiple times as well when price/volume or macros were sketchy. I just got in and out on those occasions.

My original buys way back when were in the $0.60s on this and have been trading this within the channels each round.

I am ridiculously long OSTK because I think it's going to 150 or more. I routinely sell covered calls about $20 OTM when it gets near +2. They wholly own TZROP as well. I've got a 6 figure bet on this one.

I like this one long as well. If a new entry maybe 85ish on the -1ATR touch?

Could be good short term on options trades as well I think both ways. Puts this week if loses Friday low and calls the following. Heck maybe the same day back up.

Thanks FJ,
I'm definitely guilty of looking at the 1 year and not pulling in the covid correction for my charting on this.

To my eye channel lines since July '20 say it could peak above 4400 but every round number has shown at least a brief resistance. Although 4300 broke pretty quickly compared to others

Obviously still new to this so I'm testing theories and soaking up input

UBER back on watch for me.....as an options weekly 7/9 or 7/16

Closed above 50EMA Friday, however lost it once before.
Over 51.83 could be the breakout but needs 52.36 to go.

If so I think MT then about $55 are back in play.

All good. Just try playing around with trendlines over different periods then see how things were supported or rejected.

Based on history anything look odd?

More EV news.

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-07-05/battery-powered-locomotives-zero-emission-train-future

Quote:

Colossal freight locomotives are a fixture of the American landscape, but their 4,400-horsepower engines collectively burn 3.5 billion gallons of diesel annually, at a time when railroads and other fossil fuel users face pressure to reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

With little fanfare, however, the industry has begun operating locomotives that run on stored electrical power, moving toward a future in which toy shops are not the only source of battery trains. American passenger lines could also be transformed by the technology, though California rail officials say it will not work for the state's bullet train.

In a just-completed test, BNSF ran a freight train from Barstow to Stockton with an experimental battery locomotive, coupled with two diesel locomotives, and achieved an 11% reduction in fuel consumption, along with similar reductions in emissions of nitrogen oxides, small particulates and greenhouse gases. An upgraded future operational version is expected to improve fuel efficiency by 30%.

Setting aside my issues with this path forward, seems like the lithium and other battery component play is getting stronger every day.

Do it

HLT has recently pulled back to its 120-day moving average, which has been a significant trendline over the past couple of years. The equity's current perch near the $120 level is also roughly six time its initial public offering (IPO) price, while the $117 area has stepped in as a floor since HLT's post-earnings move above it in February. Bearing all of that in mind, now looks like an ideal time to bet on HLT's next move higher.

V - ideally pick up at mean $233 for trip to new ATH. good put credit spread candidate as well.

$JNJ I don't want to buy at 2 ATR, I want to buy at the mean, or worst case $166 area. Maybe a good spot to scale in. JNJ makes more than just vaccines, so don't forget that. Target 1 is $171, Target 2 is ATH.
