I like this chart, but 2020 is unique enough IMO that I would have left it out (assuming I understand correctly how this was made). Those were big enough swings to tug on even a 20-yr average. I might play around with some python later tonight to see what it looks like with and without.

Lol i just formulated my thoughts on this chart and was going to post them as well. I hate this chart. Initially i hated it because i want to see boxes showing 1st and 3rd quartile and whiskers showing range for each time period, but i started looking at it in comparison to spy ytd and realized that the top range of 3% means that the average of 20 years of the same day is pretty close to 0. And we're up almost 15%ytd already. Am i interpreting that right? Or do i need to find a chart of the % difference from the previous day's close for an appropriate comparison?

Now that the market is closed I wanted to ask all the brainiacs a question.
Im going to be taking an equity investment in a small business in the 25-50K range(thanks to money made from the learning and recs of this board) and was wondering if anyone here had a recommendation for a lawyer who could review a LLC agreement and adoption agreement.

Did some more digging on ZEST and its recent run back up from $3.25:

Hearing set 7/28 for Walmart's appeal on the judgment.

Also, start of this most recent run ZEST was awarded a patent for their tracking technology (that Walmart had stolen). So looks like the patent approval was the catalyst this month - that could be something profitable for them going forward.

$ZOM looks like it may be at a good resistance point to buy back in. My charting sucks but I believe there is a potential catalyst coming up and, combined with pivot, I'm keeping a close eye.

Yep. Almost blew his account up. More or less did.

Saddest part is he had so much in 2 trades % wise that he panicked and stopped out. Both those trades reversed intraday. He probably would have made a profit.

What could have happened was not stopping out by panicking with the pressure all in. Instead of about blowing his account up he would most likely made a profit. The reversed intraday and were within SR levels.

Feel bad for him but good lesson to learn when his account is smaller. Someday he may have a larger account and might have to learned position size with a higher price tag.

What do people think about Ripster's $270 MSFT call?

Hit all time high so can't look left, but is there more room to run with this? Think it's tied to QQQ making a run for the ATH at this point more than anything.

No I don't think we really covered this topic. It is an important one.

In my test account I run between 5-10% on the line per trade. I've had slightly more on a trade or two when talking AMZN or the likes.

I get that but isn't it showing that the trend is very nearly 0? But because the averages are all so close to 0 a difference of 1% looks like a lot. I'd be willing to bet that 90% confidence intervals on each day of that chart would cover 0. Edit to add: im not trying to be argumentative, i just think the chart exaggerates what appears to be near-insignificant figures and am trying to figure out where I'm misinterpreting it

we should note too that last year's June pullback started June 9th. This year it didn't start until the 17th. Still plenty of time left for blood.

I'm more pissed that I missed MSTR puts or short. That was a Tic play (and bitcoin short really).

I'm replying to your post but not singling you out.

The market has some considerable headwinds in front of it. This is a precarious time where what you've learned becomes extremely valuable. Don't take any post on Twitter, FB, or here for that matter as gospel and go balls deep into a position. Use the tools that you've learned and do your own DD. Use your favorite technical indicators to evaluate the trades you want to make. If a stock/option violates what you have confidence in, don't search for one to reinforce your FOMO, that will lead to costly mistakes. Taking recs from anywhere is great and leads to something you might have missed, but lean on your discipline to shield you from gambling.

Not to bring politics into this, but politics affect the market considerably. The budget, infrastructure and more stimulus, with the Fed acknowledging inflation creates a situation that you don't want to jump into the deep end of the pool when smaller positions will still net you a profit.

Apologies for the diatribe, but I don't want anyone in here to blow up their account, as I have done numerous times over the years. I, we, want everyone in here to prosper and grow their wealth to improve the lives of your families.

Thanks, I appreciate this and don't take offense to the post. I have been chart / price hunting on stuff that hit 52 week highs for puts with the idea of a pullback.

I was literally about to hit buy on puts for MSFT earlier when he came out with the $270 calls. And he knows a hell of a lot more about trading, etc. than I do, so it made me step back (and make the post).

What am I missing? What am I not accounting for? Is it simply he's bull biased like I have been, but am pushing myself to consider the other direction? Or something else.

I don't usually trade options or MSFT for that matter. That being said, I'd be reluctant to short it or try to time puts at this time because it looks strong according to what I favor. Don't take my opinion either, look at the chart with the criteria that you're comfortable with and make your own decision.

If 30K is right, then what I just posted will piss you off because we sell off hard. You'd be pissed for not buying puts but 30K will profit and sub 4K I get a new Iphone.

Just f'ing with you 30K.
