Anyone find it easier to just do the short term option swing trades on SPY.

Then just have a portfolio of companies you hold for longer periods?

I feel like trying to find individual companies each day is cumbersome.

That worked great for me until it didn't. The whims of the overall market can screw you quickly.

Is IMMR one of OA's stocks? I may jump in. I think they just released earnings though

As long as you have clearly identified levels, are patient on entry, honor stops and don't get greedy on exit you can do just fine. Skip any of those and not so much.

Ok I gotcha. I'm not familiar with any of the agricultural supply chain issues, I'll have to read up!

I too am tired of keeping up with individuals and I took a beating in March.

Since early April I've been doing wheel strategy on a few reliables and buying calls on Index ETFs and/or equity on their leveraged counterparts - being very picky about entry and exit (I just got out of the QQQ calls I accumulated yesterday and the day prior). I've done well this past month.

If I were to take a position in IMMR, I would wait. Looks like it could come in closer to 7 before it is all said and done

Very cool. Super interested in the wheel strategy. Been reading and researching it.

Jumped onto some NKE puts (hope I'm not offending someone by buying puts) after it gapped up rocketed outside of +3 ATR. Looking for a scalp here. Could see a gap back down if it continues the trend and some potential stop losses happen or Biden decides cleveland steamer the markets during his speech.

I love the wheel on stocks that tend to hover around the same value for very long periods of time.

F is a great example. You can wheel it all day long. If it does drop too low to get a call strike after assignment then you just hold until it goes back up.

It has to be a good solid company because the ultimate risk is you have to hold it a while if it goes south. I have no problem holding F pretty much forever.

Sorry, I don't. I do have this saved though:

@oldarmy1: Backing up the truck yesterday and today accumulating $IMMR for long term trade. A pure sell on doubling from these levels.

@oldarmy1: My 4th largest holding now in terms of number of shares (not $ value) is $IMMR. Waiting is hard for most which is why only the few ever turn 7 figures on a stock.

I'm modifying it to create what I'm calling a "Net Free Wheel Strategy." Since trades went commission free a few years ago, there's no penalty to tiny trades.

So what I do is ensure that whatever premium I get is more than the value of one share... then I use it to buy a share (and have some leftover cash). This will be an embarrassingly slow accumulation, but after 4 weeks of doing this, I have:

4 free shares of F, GE, JETS, MJ and XLE
2 free shares of GDX

If possible, I roll my legs on Friday rather than having them exercise (get weekend premium). If the roll on a put is too expensive, I let it exercise and take shares. If the roll on a call is too expensive, I let them sell. By too expensive, I mean net debit or not enough net credit to buy a free share. So far I haven't taken a loss on the call leg, but if that ever happens, I'll sell my free shares to make up the difference.

Edit to add, the free shares are strictly from option premium. Several of my trades have clearly resulted in profits from execution of the call leg where my strike was higher than the previous put. I'm being lazy here, I don't want to do the math to add that profit in. Also, as I accumulate cash, I'll eventually be able to add positions to my rotation (I want the juicy premiums of ICLN next)
