Ok, last 30 minutes question... I have some NIO, PLUG, and FUBO calls that are positive. I was thinking about taking the profits today rather than hold over the weekend (all are May expiration).

Looking at the charts, NIO and PLUG seem to be moving the right way but FUBO isn't today. Any help on whether to expect continuation or to take profit now?
Went ahead and sold all of these, plus my X calls. All of these were OA plays and I'm sure I left a lot on the table, but the small wins are nice.

Man I had started doing the 1.10-1.30 thing, but somehow goofed on a buy the other morning when it was down to I think it was $1.11.

Bummed to miss this run.
Do you use alerts or GTC buys/sells?

Great call on these. Went net free selling 1/4 of my contracts, sold 1/2 of the remaining for 175% gain, and have the last 1/4 held to run.

GTC buys/sells.

But I had it set for $1.10 for the buy and it bottomed at $1.11.

I hope so, but those are still .02 ask

Ended up selling most of these for .03 at 2:34. No ****, i timed it perfectly

But the trade I'm really proud of was aapl spreads i bought yesterday.
Aapl was having a strong morning and everything went south, so i checked out the hod (which was right when the market tanked) and saw that it had just blasted through 134
From the little i know of technicals (and following mancini), i saw where we bounced that the pattern was still intact and even reinforced, so i made a bet that aapl would get right back on its trajectory and reclaim 134. Was able to grab 133/134 spreads (that were fully otm at purchase) for .28 each that just paid $1. I'll take a win like that any day!
Oh and i sold half this morning for .84 to go net free+ just in case

I think that's ok. Chances are we have a touch of cool off in the next week at some point and can probably buy back in below you sell price unless runs off.

I kept mostly runners on options heading into the weekend except for past May options.

GTC buys/sells.

For this type of play I usually set my buys at $0.01-,02 over the low support. So in this last round I set them at $1.12 and filled. May not have even at $1.11 flash but $1.12 worked. Maybe give that a whirl sometime. My goal on CIDM anyway is in the teens average cost and scale out from high $1.20s to $1.30s leaving that blocks net free shares to move into my other account. That is 10-20% swing profit in relatively short periods.

Just me anyway but I personally do not buy and sit on this one with much of March and some of April trading in 'narrow' channels.

Thanks for the tip. That'd make sense to be setting that up just above the support levels. Appreciate it.

Have already swung it twice like you had mentioned previously. Just missed this one. Sitting on a block of NF as well.

doesn't happen often.

What I did today was setup two butterflies and I bought each for sub $1/contract:

  • 4185/4190/4195
  • 4185/4180/4175

I was essentially making the bet that SPX would trade between 4177 and 4193, but not between 4183 and 4187. and if it did, it would not be 4185 exactly. I thought this was an OK time to risk 2 to make 3. It wasn't a ton of money, but a good end to a frustrating couple of weeks for me.

I'm following my process, taking the right setups, but some of them just haven't worked out.

Great job on pinning/identifying those levels and thanks for how you went about that. I plan/need to study up on those types of plays and give it a whirl at some point. I'll try cheap ones with real (small) money to feel the victory or pain to get the hang of it.

I seem to learn best after a little pain.

Manchin Says Biden Should Focus on 'Conventional' Infrastructure
Looks like the Republicans have the early lead on votes in infrastructure... Way too early... Have a good weekend... Treasuries did not break... Looks like it will be determined by next weeks Fed meeting

Manchin Says Biden Should Focus on 'Conventional' Infrastructure
Democrat says social programs could come as a next step
Rising sentiment in Congress to split Biden plan into pieces
By Billy House
(Bloomberg) --
Key moderate Senator Joe Manchin said President Joe Bidenand Congress should focus on "conventional" infrastructure projects like roadways and bridges, in another sign of building sentiment to split up the administration's expansive $2.25 trillion plan.
The West Virginia Democrat was joined by a group of other centrist lawmakers from both parties for a discussion on infrastructure Friday ahead of Biden's address to a joint session of Congress next week. The president will be making his case for his second longer-term economic plan, which goes beyond building projects to include social safety net programs.
"What we think the greatest need we have now, that can be done in a bipartisan way, is conventional infrastructure," Manchin said. "Water, sewer, roads, bridges, internet -- things that we know need to be repaired, be fixed."

Joe Manchin
Noting that Biden's proposals include "human infrastructure," Manchin said, "We believe that we should take step by step."
Manchin's support will be critical for Biden in a Senate that's split 50-50 between the two parties. He suggested a two-track approach that deals first with physical infrastructure, which offers the best chance to get some Republican support, with spending on transportation systems, water projects and communications networks.
'Greatest Need'
Biden also is proposing raising taxes on upper-income Americans to help pay for social service spending, but that is broadly opposed by GOP lawmakers.
"So why don't we take the greatest need that we have and do it on something that we all agree on?" Manchin said.
With the White House pushing Congress to act in the coming months, various coalitions have been laying down markers.
A group of senior Senate Republicans on Thursday proposed a $568 billion counter to Biden's proposal that focused on physical infrastructure, though they they gave few specifics on how to pay for the spending beyond references to taxing electric cars and repurposing unspent funds. They specifically opposed any roll-back of the 2017 GOP tax cuts or adding to the national debt.
Problem Solvers
Earlier Friday, a bipartisan group of 58 centrist House members called for more spending on infrastructure but offered no exact estimate of how much to spend.
The Problem Solvers Caucus listed in its 16-page report an array proposals, such as raising the fuel tax to help pay for roads and bridges, an annual registration fee on fully electric or hybrid electric cars, or broadening the current air cargo tax to trucking services.
Representative Josh Gottheimer, a New Jersey Democrat who co-chairs the Problem Solvers Caucus, was among those who appeared with Manchin at the meeting in Annapolis, Maryland, which he said was intended to set priorities for an infrastructure program.

Josh Gottheimer
"The first part is how do we focus this down so we can start our agreement there," Gottheimer said. "We're going to, as we move forward, look at two other pieces: what should it cost -- what do we actually need to spend -- and then, of course, how do we pay for it?"
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Biden would get a briefing on the GOP plan and invite the Republicans to the White House to discuss it.
"The president's only red line is inaction," Psaki told reporters at a briefing on Friday. "We want to have an exchange from both sides of the aisle."

Hah! I saw an update on ET that the Dakota access pipeline appeal got declined by the courts. I rushed in and bought $8.50 calls for May 21.

Five minutes letter I actually read the report and ET was the one who filed the appeal. I was in such a hurry I forgot that they were the ones the government was screwing by shutting down their permit to use the pipeline under a federal body of water.

Sold at the end of the day and still made $5 on each call.
