Despite tech finishing strong today, my portfolio which started the day looking good, finished red. But frankly it's overall performance is being driven by WWR, CLOV, TLRY, DPW and SNDL. DPW is only one I really don't like, the rest I am just holding for their respective days in the sunlight

I have a number of BTC miners which just need another bull rush by BTC over 60k to get to where I want them

I'm saturated in those plays so I really can't play much elsewhere . I mean I have IMMR, ZOM, RBLX, KIQ and we're all slightly down for the day.

Interested to see what next week brings.
CLOV CALs stop adding people after Wednesday so that will be interesting

Point is, red or not, I feel positive.

Have a fantastic Easter weekend everyone and God bless y'all .
you may need to consider resetting your account. On a day like today, your account should have been green. Unrealized loss is the same as realized loss, by the way.

Get some momentum going by doing buy-writes.

Frankly, for newbies who don't know how to size correctly, I'd suggest buy-writes ALL THE TIME if they insist on playing options.

I try to tell some to not buy an option until they understand charts and volatility inside and out.

That makes sense. I am just tipping my toes into the water and definitely cannot devote a lot of time to watch everything so I am mostly doing buy-writes and maybe selling some puts.

Keep your chin up and build some confidence next week on small plays. 30k mentioned buy-writes and those are a perfect way to reset and build momentum. About as easy as it gets as well.

I say this loosely since this type of portfolio mix is part of your issue, but stocks like KIQ, DNN, NXTD, etc that are cheap per share and trade in channels at the moment, are easy ways to really learn charting, support/resistance levels and entry/exits. Along with low risk exposure if small size. It's a great way to build confidence as well having repeatable cash flow successful trades. You can buy-write those on half and trade the other half as an example.

Hope you have a fantastic Easter weekend and God bless you as well. Next week is a fresh start.

I'd also suggest spreads out a ways (when they start to understand options other than cc's.)...and buy more time! spreads sometimes allow you to buy more time without any or much extra cost.

I don't always have time in the day to watch trades, so back in early March when the sky was falling, I bought MARA call spreads. MARA dipped at one point to $24. I bought the 28c sold the 32 (4/16 expiration) for a little over $1. These are 4x now. Wish I'd bought more of them! I'm far from perfect, I've made some stupid trades too, still learning.

Think the chart (technical analysis) aspect is foundational. Understanding the underlying's posture technically is critical to a successful trade. Shares or options.

If you don't understand TA, you shouldn't be trading options. Learned that the hard way too. My trading education cost more than my TAMU education because of not knowing what I was doing early on

As a newbie myself, I can sympathize and say don't feel bad. I had been doing pretty well, but screwed up today and picked an option one strike price too far. Ended up in the money, but it was too late and about worthless. Biggest loss to date, and it sucks. Had the right idea, but missed.

Going to reset and evaluate again, cut some other losers next week, and begin again. I have several stocks as you, but can see things clearer each day, especially with the help of the folks here.

Have a great weekend.

I haven't played options at all except for some covered calls on a few of my holdings.
I like the buy-write idea, but I will have to look into how to get the appropriate setup

You're singing my song Irish! Man, once even basic TA became a strength it was so easy to look back at past trades and 'see' my past mistakes. Comical actually and couldn't do anything but laugh at myself. Live and learn.... expensively. Still learning every single day.

Crappy stocks update:

  • ASAN - powered through the mean, closed above 21, should at least test resistance at the 34/55/89 confluence area around $31.50. Still in daily squeeze. Let's see what next week brings here. $33 / $36 would be cup completion depending on how you draw it. I still think this is a failed trade but this broke it's downward trend line. I didn't draw it because you guys are more than capable of that
  • UPWK - solid, closed above all EMAs, momentum turning positive, squeeze should fire long, will watch for resistance at $51.5 area
  • MU - gapped up after earnings. Gap up doji, which is normally considered to be bullish. Volume elevated. Possible this continues to grind up
  • OPEN - still in descending channel needs over $24 to be constructive. VERY high probability of max loss trade at this point
  • BTWN - solid open and failure, may need to consolidate longer. Lower volume, oversold.

Re: MU

This article thinks the semiconductor market is going to explode and MU is listed as having the highest potential upside. Also mentions NVDA amongst other stocks I have seen listed here.

I did find an article about it...basically as an April Fools day thing people held a "fake concert" at the park and that was how the police disbanded it. Pretty crazy

NNOX! FDA approved.

Bought this at 40 and 37 and added some calls ...

Some think this approval will send them to 200 plus

Oof.

Made a small profit on this one back in January / February.

Guess I'll be setting my alarm for 3 AM Monday to get in early.

How is this different from current x-rays? More portable? Cheaper? Less potentially intrusive or damaging? Better imaging? I'm gonna have to read the googles now.

I'm not a technical expert on this, but my understanding is it is low cost, portable and easily deployable in emerging markets.

I can't wrap my head around an imaging machine that costs 10K. We are going to find out soon if it catches fire.

I can't wrap my head around an imaging machine that costs 10K. We are going to find out soon if it catches fire.

When I did some DD on this before, a typical x-ray machine costs $20-30K. So they've cut the cost of the device by 50%. It also has a much smaller footprint than the traditional x-ray machines, and shields the whole assembly such that you don't have to x-ray proof a whole room to use it. So there's cost savings to the facilities, though I don't know exactly what those are.

Their pricing model also involves letting consumers pay by the x-ray. So their costs are going to be heavy up front, depending on how exactly those pricing agreements work.

That's all I got for now. I bailed when they canceled a planned livestream demo of the product back in February, was concerning and they didn't have a great explanation as to why.

But looks like they've overcome that and obviously this approval by the FDA is a promising sign. Note this is was basically step 1 in the FDA process, they still have other steps to go to get full approval and be able to deploy it.

Still projecting Q4 of this year / Q1 next year for real world use and entry.

I'm curious for those who have a longer track record on investing in new medical tech like this, what is the pricing cycle going to look like on this?

Obviously will jump Monday, but then feel there will be a pull back to some extent while investors wait on full FDA approval and real world delivery and use.
