The 1, 5,10, and 20 bond yields are all down premarket. AUD/JPY is flat. I hope for a 2.5% green QQQ day to get us back into that 320 range to close this week. Then who knows.

beta is a measure of a stock relative to a benchmark usually the S&P 500. High alpha stocks overshoot S&P performance when the S&P is going up. The undershoot when trending down.

Alpha is a risk adjusted return. If you are alpha focus you have a diverse portfolio that has a predictable and understood rate of return relative to the risk of those positions.

Tech is high beta because they are super focused on growth. They are capital heavy companies trying to capture market share with innovative products that require a lot of debt.

Financials are low beta. As a business they want to generate a lot of cash and usually pay that out as a dividend.
This is great. How do you identify high alpha stocks? Is there an actual metric? Is there any type of analysis to do this?

Those TSLA 650 flies I put in as a hedge may be the only thing that pays today. I guess my little CAR and SIG condors would pay as well. I may jam in more LADR calls if I can get them cheap enough at the open.

At some point it does become tail wagging the dog if you are shorter swing to short term trading. If these move the markets then they become important, even if longer term they don't make a hill of beans.
