Just remember on Vix calls, they are more like a butterfly on that you need to nail price AND time. Yes they will move a little in correlation with vix, not because of no early redemption the expiration timing matters.

The only thing I've really noticed different about VIX than other options is that their weeklies have horrid bid/ask spreads but their monthlies are highly traded and have tight spreads. I care zero about timing with it, but I'll never trade the weekly and always trade the monthlies.

If I want a weekly, I'll go with VXX or UVXY, but in general, I prefer VIX, because it actually has a bottom whereas VXX and UVXY are guaranteed to fall long-term.
