I have orders set at $1...but I have no basis behind that price other than it is a nice round number.

Possibly filling that gap from earlier in the year is right around $1 I guess?

I use ThinkOrSwim and do it in one transaction called a "Roll".

It does the Sell and Purchase in one transaction. Works great if you are in a capital crunch.

Wouldn't mind my WWR $5 puts getting called out in January, would give me a $4.10 entry point for more shares

Interesting, had wondered how yall were doing that.

Question on WWR. Say I have a small account $1500 and I believe OA1 that this stock will take off by the end of the year. Naturally I would want as many shares as possible.

Hypothetically I could buy 300 shares outright for the full $1500. But what if I bought 5 2.5c for 8/21 at $3.00 each. I would then control 500 shares for my $1500 at a cost basis of $5.50.

What am I missing, this seems like a good use of capital. The major risk is the stock price not moving up by August I believe.

Could work so long as you get a move, but if the move doesn't come until Q4 you'd be in a pinch. I think you'd be better served selling puts on it, and maybe picking up 1-200 shares and doing covered calls on it.

Edit to add: You could sell August $5P for 2.25 right now, which would give you shares at 2.75. With my brokerage (Fidelity) they only hold back the money you need to buy the shares, so with $1500 you could control the right to buy the 500 shares you had talked about for $1375. Then you'd either have shares with a low cost basis, or you'd keep the $1125 in premium. Sold return on the $1375 they held, but if you think it's going to $15 you would miss out on some upside.

only issue you'd have is having to find the cash to execute the calls. So you'd need to find an additional $1250 to exercise those options.

Now, you could sell 3 options and use the proceeds to fund the purchase of 200 of the shares. I did that on MGNI last fall when it started to run a bit. Bought some $10 calls and some $17.50 calls. Used the price run up on the $17.50s premium to fund the purchase of the $10 call exercising.
