so the risk in that trade is if the stock tanks and is below $4.25, correct? If it never dips below $5 you keep the premium and dont get assigned. if you are assigned and the stock is somewhere between $4.25 and $5 you are still in the money. Is that correct?
Exactly. $4.25 you would be at even but yes thats the game plan on it. Do I think $WWR will be at $4.25 or lower in 3 weeks no I don't but may its still 2020. Personally I think that is free money.

Disney at $175 and most parks still aren't open. Can this thing hit $200, or is the vaccine/park recovery baked in?

"Trading Account" question. Most of the chatter in this thread is about trading and short/medium term plays. It's been a fantastic source of new names, new strategies, etc. my question- what is the breakdown of your portfolio in regards to Taxable/Non Taxable; Trading / long term investment

Taxable (60%)
Non Taxable (40%)

Trading - preference has always been 10% of taxable as I had historically considered this a little like "gambling". Thanks to this thread, it's grown to 15%. (Balance of portfolio has grown, but not as quickly)

A good example of this is if you want more $WWR, but no guarantees of getting the shares, you can sell a Jan $5 put for $0.75 right now. You either keep the $0.75 or have a cost basis of $4.25 for a share if assigned that is currently trading at $5.50+ basically 3 weeks out.

Did this yesterday for $XL - missed the run and didn't want to chase current pricing (it's lifting off again this morning), but sold 1/15 $25 puts (base of the run) for $3.

It's unlikely I get those shares put to me but that's some decent premium for locking up some cash for a couple weeks.

so i am assuming your cash on hand cant dip below whatever the cost of purchasing all the assigned contracts is when you are selling puts, correct? Hence "locking up cash"

Correct-they have to be cash secured, so it will take the cash out of your "cash available" balance until the expiration date or you buy the put back.

I am in that situation with MARA. I have puts that will expire since the price shot up. I could buy them back at .05 to free up the cash if I wanted to. Or with WWR I could buy the puts back at about 60% of what I sold the for and free up that cash.

I am letting both keep going, trying to keep some cash on the sideline right now and that is a good way to make me do that. Plus, with WWR I would actually like the shares or keep 100% the premium of the put.

I think I understand your question, but am not positive.

Historically, I have had about 50% of invested assets in non-taxable retirement funds, 45% in after-tax, and 5% after-tax that I allocate for trading (hedging/speculation). I have invested the retirement portfolio fairly conservatively, the after-tax moderately aggressive, and anything goes in the fun account.

This year has made me revisit this a bit, due to the over-performance of the speculative portion (up over 100% this year in the small account). The problem is that I have a relative boatload of short-term gains that will have a decent-sized tax bill.

I am now trying to migrate most of my speculative or hedging plays when I have an associated long position into the retirement portfolio. I am talking things like risky biotechs, penny stocks, recent IPOs, covered calls on appreciated positions, etc. This way, I will avoid the tax impact of shorter-term swing trades. Of course, my favorite speculative trade - buying a simple naked call - will have to continue to be in the fun account. I'll have to watch my overall risk portfolio to make sure it's not out of whack, but I think this may produce better results.

Oa is the man once again. Grabbed 4 for .24, then averaged down with a couple more at .15, just closed them out at .95. Merry Christmas!

I play lottos with small amounts only, so I ride to valhalla most of the time. If you bought enough contracts just go net free and ride the rest to see if they run!

This is exactly what I did as I sold 3/4 of my holdings around .24 yesterday mid-day to go net free and will let it run into the launch.
