What's the deal with wash sale on options?
I have an expiring AMD $100 C expiring this Friday that will go as a loss. What if I buy 10/16 AMD $90 C today and hopefully post a profit? That's a wash sale? Better not to buy the 10/16 call then?

that is not a wash sale. even if it was, the profit or less is the net of all trades on that security.
Wash sales only have tax implications not economic implications. Trading short term options won't generate any real wash sales since the transactions will open and close within a month. Trading long-term options that extend out several months have wash sale implications but they are minor.
So just make money and don't worry about tax implications.

PINS consolidating nicely here...yes, have patience. If you need to, role out profits from OCT calls to NOV and rest easy. By my eye, PINS is waiting on the 50 MA on the hourly to catch up before going higher. May be late tomorrow/Thursday before another sustained move higher.
