It means it's a option on a stock that expires on 10/16.

Call options have the right to buy at a strike (certain stock price) by that date.

Put options have the right to sell a strike by that date.

Think of it like real estate, saying you'll pay farmer Jim $100 for the right to buy his land at $1000/acre until 10/16/2020

Something I just found while browsing options.. AAPL 11/20/20 $150 Calls have over 80K open interest.

For comparison's sake... The 115/120/125 calls with the same expiration have 65K/69K/73K open interest respectively.

As someone relatively new to options I am wondering.. Is this normal for a strike so far OTM?

With the iPhone event coming in the next 3 weeks, probably a lot of people are banking on a big bump, and 150 is a nice round number. Personally, I think it's optimistic, but as a 5G iPhone is probably going to be a big deal...maybe it's legit.
